Are you familiar with the terms "hitting or joining the market"

Are you familiar with the terms
"hitting the market"
"Joining the market"

As I understand it,they mean either leading the bid/ask or opposing the bid/ask depending on whether you want to breakout or fade the move.

Thanks wareco. I am familiar with hitting the bid/ask, but I think that this hit/join thingy is the difference between going with the volume direction or fading it.
