I believe addiction = harmful compulsion that can not be stopped without serious pain. Obsession = captivating fixation on something. So if you can take a break from trading, or stop when your equity curve falls below your risk limit, it's probably just a safe obsession.
It was an addiction until the day i single handedly brought my algorithmic server live. Nowadays it just boots up by its own, powers up my program and IB TWS, starts trading real time, sends an email report to me via email at market close, and shuts down by itself (to save electricity). No its not ad addiction anymore... my computers are addicted
If you are losing heavily in family loss time and money, it is an addiction. But at some point if/when you become profitable, you are much less at computer and much time with family. The passionate 90 hours per week day trading are now ugly long 14-35 hours per week. But I have seen some who are still cranking tons of hours in it, making tons of money, but have lost their families due to family lost husband and Dad to it. After awhile, we end up doing it not for sake of making money as much as playing the game. And of course, taken so long to get good at it, want to steal everyone's money in the process.
The prosecution rests their case against Messr. Austin Passamonte-SVE. (System Vendor Extraordinaire).
more of being addicted to the markets than trading. addiction in the latter resulted in overtrading (on the other hand maybe i just need to have better discipline)
not sure if i should watch porn while trading..... what r the pros and cons of watching porn while trading?
