The decrease in volatility always happens and the majority of experienced traders got used to it. It is a common practice when traders make some sort of vacations to recharge their batteries before the next 'season' of high volatility. Perhaps, that is the best time to take a rest or to get rid of some bad habits or to learn something new, whatever. Many brokers feel that trading in summer is not something that they should aspire to and I partly agree with that. The main essense of trading is gaining the profits from high volatility and when it is low, there is no need in wasting time on trying to earn something during this period of time. However, some traders work on their 'methodology' and try to come up with new trading ideas and work out new trading strategies which can be implemented later and, perhaps, bring them more profits. So, they don't have neither time nor desire to think whether the job they do is ethical or not. As for me, I don't see any reasons to deem that trading is somehow unethical. We don't steal anything, we don't do any harm to people, so why should trading be considered to be unethical? Surely, our job differ from the traditional one, but we there is still no easy money on the market.
I would not generalize so straight to all traders, in every class there are boring people, and not only in trading, this is a purely human factor
In 21+ years I've never gotten bored with trading. There's boring midday chop and slow days occasionally. But I love trading. Solving each day's puzzle in pursuit of profits never gets old. It's a unique challenge every day.
each person is boring in his own way, this is already a personal characteristic of each person personally
Yea i guess the market has slowed down a bit. There is very little volatility in the market at the moment which is making the entire process boring.
It depends on the particular trader and his/her relation to trading activity. To my mind, trading is such an activity where is impossible to be bored, because every day you find something new about trading out and it makes you be happy and interested in this activity. Moreover, it depends on the trading style. If you're fond of scalping, for example, then it might be a bit boring, nevertheless it's a very high level of stress. I believe that traders who don't want to be bored because of trading should choose trading on high timeframes, like investing, because you shouldn't sit all day and watch for the charts, it's enough to check the charts two or three times a week.
