Are there local groups for studying options trading together in SF/Bay area in CA?

  1. Hey folks,

Does anybody know if there is a local group/club for options trading in SF/Bay area in California? Chess has local clubs, dancing has local clubs, bridge also has. Are there such local communities that we can have workshops, seminars, etc. and learn together?

    Thanks!

  2. 1) Be a hunter, not a fisherman. Be willing to attempt to form your own group via this site, craigslist, wilmott, Stanford, USF et al.
    2) Dancing is socialable. Chess is competitive. Trading is individualistic. Don't be too surprised if you don't find very much cooperation in an effort to form a "united" study group.

  3. Thanks. Maybe I am not creative enough, I know on Craigslist you can have men looking for women and women looking for men, or even men looking for men and women looking for women, etc. I couldn't figure out how to look for fellow option traders on Craigslist? Please shed some lights on me...

  4. 1) Stay away from the Personals.
    2) You can initiate something in Discussion Forums---> Money
    3) You can initiate something in Community--->Activities, General, Groups, Events and Classes.
    4) You can try "alternative" newspapers there that offer free or cheap ads.
    5) You could create an ad on a sheet of paper with "tear off" strips on the bottom and post it on bulletin boards at book stores, colleges, public libraries, municipal buildings, apartment buildings, coffee houses, retirement homes, train stations et al.
    6) Be prepared for a scenario where you might be hosting a "freak show".
