    We are looking for a Desk Strategist to join the Strategies team in the Securities Division.

    The role of Desk Strategist is fairly unique to Goldman Sachs. It requires capabilities in modeling, software development, and quantitative marketing and structuring. Desk Strategists sit in the front office with Trading and Sales, exposing them to a dynamic and high-pressure environment.

    Responsibilities:
    * Working as part of the trading desk team to price transactions and manage risk in the front office
    * Developing new financial models
    * Building and maintaining a complete trading and risk management platform
    * Generating trade ideas for clients as well as for proprietary investing activities
    * Assisting in the marketing and structuring of transactions where substantial analytics or infrastructure are required
    * Assisting in Firmwide Strategies initiatives

    Experience/Skills:
    * Mathematical or Financial background, including a quantitative understanding of probability
    * Knowledge of stochastic calculus and financial derivatives is a plus
    * Very strong programming skills (specifically C++)
    * Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, and to deliver results extremely quickly
    * Ability to solve problems and to explain the ideas that underlie them to non-technical clients and colleagues
    * Excellent writing and verbal communication skills

  7. After you make a few hundred thousand per year trading, you can diversify and perform brain surgery in the evenings and/or cleaning toilets at the fast food joint on weekends, or groom other people's pets, to increase your income.

    Or if you don't do well in those other jobs, then don't do them, and stick to trading.

    Greetings K,

    Depending on the depth and scope of your technical knowledge base, and your professional skills, you might want to try putting together a proposal to teach a "Technical Analysis Course" at your local University or Community College.

    Other options are to approach your local brokerage houses and offer to teach seminars to their clients who are interested in learning. Its good for you and good for them as well, a win win situation. Who knows where it could lead?

  10. If you like technical analysis, one idea is to try and impress a tv producer of one of the finance networks to take you on. You can be on-screen, or just behind the screen providing tons of ideas / content to the face guy.

    Newspaper columns, and books are another idea.
