I am long soccer in the USA. The catalyst is the steady inflow of mexicans into our major US cities. It's been two years now, but me and a friend spoke with the MLS commissioner about future markets for a team. A team only ran about $10mm if I recall but you had to build a dedicated stadium for the team on top of that. Other issues included: Adidas is the real league "owner." League Salary Cap There is a market for soccer building in the states though.
No I don't think soccer will ever be big in the States. It has attracted ONE big name- looks like it might be the last.
timeouts are only one minute, and in soccer you have a lot of "unofficial" brakes, plus 15 minutes at halftime. At the end the game actually played is not really a lot.
this time not only i have a clue, but i have a pretty good one. You got your facts wrong. Controlling a ball in soccer is by far not as easy as you think. With all due respect to basketball. It's still a great game
No I disagree. In basketball there are time outs, breaks at the end of each quarter, breaks for throw ins, breaks for free throws etc etc. In soccer it is not like that at all. I have played both and I love both, but I still think soccer is more physically demanding.
