  1. It's a plain fact that alot of elite traders here are incredibly ignorant about the strength and capabilities of US military. Over the last couple of weeks you have fervant elite traders going, "yeah just imagine if the US used it full force in iraq", "were holding back in iraq", "we arent using our full strength". That is complete BS if you think that would change anything in Iraq. It obviously shows how ignorant alot of ETers here are, and dont understand the limitations of US military. You can look at Russia and chetchnya. They used 100 times more force, they bombed out entire cities, killed civilians at whim, do stuff that even nazis were afraid of doing, and they are still fighting a war in chetyna. This is the same kind of stupidity, that got you into iraq. Pure ignorance of the facts, and how the real world works. And then there are you that saids, lets see how they react when we use nukes. If you use nukes anywhere around the world, like in north korea and iran. You would have declared nuclear war on china and russia. It would be like somebody nuking mexcio and raining nuclear fallout accross much of southern united states. What would you do? You would retalitate in full force. Please Bush is learning an expensive lesson in how things really work and history, like in trading learn from it :D

  2. One things for sure, the traditional model of armoured urban combat seems to be highly flawed.

If its correct the borders are still porous, and the military is effectively holed up in the green zone, shuttling around the cities like underpaid cabbies, theres something wrong with the picture.

The only way the israeli's could make urban armour effective is bulldozing the whole joint, not exactly great for getting people onside.

I dont know what the solution might be, but so long as their locked into a war of attrition their not going to get the results they might have hoped for.

  4. u gotta wonder tho if all the posters here calling for the nuking of iraq and iran were our leaders. can u imagine where usa would be heading? O-M-F-G.

  5. Its heading there anyway. Mutually assured destruction has remained the status quo, just the participants have changed a little.

If you dont change course, your guaranteed to end up where you were heading....hmm, meaningfull that is...well, its quiet here today you know

Like the new guy says, the US is winning battles, just where are the battles? Yesterday was what, a couple dozen people killed, women children etc- by iraqis.
Im not sure how important military capability is, if there are no straight forward diplomatic solutions, or where no clear plan was evident.

You can only win conventional wars if you carpet-bomb civilians until complete moral collapse of the enemy.

The problem with both Iraq and Vietnam is the lack of any moral majority among their civilian populations to justify carpet-bombing. Competing ideologies exist that try to control the hearts and minds of these civilians. For example, there are plenty of Iraqis who want a secular free nation, but others want an Islamist totalitarian theocracy.

Iran is doing everything it can to expand its franchise into Iraq. And so are we with our ideology of a pro-Western democracy. Iran has two advantages: they represent a religious majority in Iraq. They also enjoy the lack of this lame-ass girly-man self-loathing white-man-guilt bullshit that paralyzes the West.

And Mahram, you’re wrong about Russia. Yes, they are more brutal to Chechnia than what the West would do, but nothing like what we had to do in Germany and Japan.

  7. Showing off your ignorance of history, eh?

    Saudis reportedly funding Iraqi Sunnis

CAIRO, Egypt - Private Saudi citizens are giving millions of dollars to Sunni insurgents in Iraq and much of the money is used to buy weapons, including shoulder fired anti-aircraft missiles, according to key Iraqi officials and others familiar with the flow of cash.

On Nov. 27, a U.S. Air Force F-16 jet crashed while flying in support of American soldiers fighting Anbar province, a Sunni insurgent hotbed. The U.S. military said it had no information about the cause of the crash. Gen. William Caldwell, a U.S. military spokesman, said he would be surprised if the jet was shot down because F-16's have not encountered weapons capable of taking them down in Iraq.

But last week, a spokesman for Saddam's ousted Baath party claimed that fighters armed with a Strela missile had shot down the jet.
