this applies if you are confident enough to discard what doesn't work for you. in the trading world it's not too difficult but gurus in other fields (e.g. the self help world) can literally inject venom into your brain with their fucked up view of reality, and you are simply too weak to 'stand up to the guru' and say: 'you're full of shit'. and so, they may seriously screw with your head. to sum up i would say - pick your heroes carefully. better yet, have no heroes. just take the advice being given, and with a grain of salt.
