Are all price patterns the same? (examples)

  1. I'm thinking about starting a price action thread to have some focused discussion while I try to figure this stuff out.

  2. I would suggest doing a search, there have been quite a few PA threads.

    All of the answers have already been given. The first one most people don't want to hear is that hard work is required.

    More thoughts then Sir…. (I really like your statement above btw)

    The direction you’re heading – dead on

    How you’re thinking – dead on

    What you’re thinking – dead on

    That you must own it – dead on

    That no one knows what’s right for you – dead on

    That one must have a system he/ she believes in – dead on

    ==================================

    Keep doing this, and taking notes

    ======================================

    One of these sentences really does not belong in your thinking Sir – obliterate it

    Feel that I should be able to catch every move.

    The smartest thing, is to wait until PA and context line up.

    If you can't align your thoughts with the prior sentence you will not have consistent success in the markets.

    The market is always right.

    The market is never wrong.

    Accept there are times when price is simply untradeable (and truthfully I think you already know this)

    Our job is not to catch every move – our job is to trade moves we recognize AND can exploit

    So to is it our job to study enough that developing moves begin revealing themselves real-time

    Also with hindsight – every dog and its cousin makes money / or could have made money

    We can ill afford to live… or even visit for any length – hindsight

    ==================================

    Price and PnL – are our two absolute – irrefutable – and simple truths

    Never must we attempt to bastardize either

    =================================

    Side comment;

    What you seek is akin to quicksilver – try to push / force it – it becomes elusive & frustrating

    Let go and allow it to flow/ flourish – it’s as though it seeks you out (and how strange the realization it was there all along)

    The more you come to completely trust your eyes.. your actions… and price...

    The more is revealed to you – and the less encumbered you become (trading is truly mental)

    If by the off chance my side comments don’t make sense – just say so Sir (though I would bet they do)

    Oh, and to most everyone else – just assume I’m spouting bullshit – I’m good with that

    ==========================

    Nothing new or earth shattering in my thoughts TD…

    Simply words of encouragement Sir :)

    ==========================

    Things to ponder;

    Though I never seen an elephant’s footprints…. nor specifically hunted elephant…. I suspect if were to….

    Their tracks / behavior would be distinct – yet similar to others of their ilk…, and hard to camouflage – if one were focused on elephants

    I also suspect elephants don’t typically turn on a dime – unless spooked / panicked – which does happen, I imagine – just not that often (07 comes to mind)

    ============

    3 influences always at work to one extent or the other, that we must be mindful of;

    Year over year

    Intraday

    News

    (not saying trade the news btw, am saying get to a point where you can predict the news at the end of each day without knowing what actually happened – the mkt is uncanny at knowing/ reacting – long before most of us will have a clue)

  5. Although RN speaks a lot like Jack Hershey, I would advise you to read this post again and again until you get it. Same with Jack.

    grasshopper, the Structure has presented you with a 32R Opportunity. But the odds are less than 50%. Will you take the Opportunity presented in the present or wait for the Pattern presented by the past?

  9. I think you should, but be aware you'll get different advice from everyone who posts in it. When I made a PA thread I even had someone PM me and offer to teach me for $2,000 and then get all mad when I said no. As you may expect, they offered no proof that they are profitable, nor able to teach, so why in the world would I pay them $2,000?

    If you don't want to make a thread I recommend keeping a journal yourself in a .doc file or something just so you have all your notes and stuff together.
