Huh?? Where? Or are you talking about x39?

The SCAR or REPR costs me about a buck a shot. The H&K, less.

  2. Well, I would have thought the obvious answer is that it will penetrate Class III armor. You can take all the penetration of regular 115 grain +P 9 mil and throw it out the window if the target is wearing body armor, because you're going to get zero penetration.

I wonder about a home defense setup where you load your mags with a combination of Liberty and +P.

I don't get the Class III penetration if it has 1/3 the penetration in gelatin. I get the expansion, but I doubt the real-world utility. I am not too concerned about a Class III vest-wearer during a home invasion. I figure if he went to the trouble to wear the vest then a better target is a geriatric couple, SWF, etc. I also have mags full of SS-109.

I have steady hands and would go for a leg and head shot if the guy was obviously wearing. I mean, I suppose I am fucked if he breaches with an Abrams tank and M240 guns.

I run subsonic (suppressed); so I guess I am a sitting duck.

  4. Dang, man... my same conclusion.

I'm liking the Hi-Point 995TS carbine. Accurate, shoots great, reliable, inexpensive. (I know... lots of gun enthusiasts poo-poo Hi-Point. They shouldn't.) Even with my old eyes and frazzled nerves, can still pepper a 6" target at 30 yards in off-hand. Few "home defense" situations would involve longer distance than that.

If one wants to go hi-power in a carbine... check out Henry's lever action .357/.44 Magnums.

Sure, go with the Hi-Point. You're not looking for a range-toy or an investment. I've never owned it, but have shot one plenty. A handful of stovepipes over the years. I wouldn't run +P, but make sure it's not running weak factory loads. Go with a Mossberg 500 if the goal is limited to home defense.

Yeah, you must be looking at AK74 ammo. 7.62x51 is 2x (NATO 5.56) the cost for equal quality. Understand that the sucker is traveling at close to the same velocity as 5.56, but a 50% larger diameter. It has nearly the terminal ballistics as the 30-06.
