Check the article in this month's American Rifleman. He goes through the alternatives. He disfavors handguns for accuracy issues, shotguns because a semi auto requires a firm grip to cycle properly and a pump is inoperable with a hurt arm. I don't recall why he preferred an Ar over carbines, except perhaps mag capacity and possibly overpenetration issues.
Another (relevant?) anecdote: After ranking up to Master Sergeant II I was issued with my first P90. During times of action I tended to move slow, hug the walls and there were times when I'd let the enemy come to me, often hiding out in buildings when things were hot. My aim was never particularly accurate but whipping that P90 out and spraying it around saved my life on countless occasions. Earlier in my courier I had carried an AA-12, but found it slower to aim and generally less effective when the threat was imminent at close range. I did attach a red dot sight to the P90 as soon as it became available, which made a small positive difference, although iron sights were fine too. After continued active service I surpassed Captain, ranked up to Major I and was issued with a Mini Uzi, which I tried out, but reverted back to my trusted P90. Through much dedication and "years" of duty I eventually became a General. I was very much a hands-on guy, so continued on, enjoying active service on the front line. It's hard to believe now, but I was issued with a Model 1887, and in fact there were times when I carried two. It was highly effective, but somehow didn't quite do it for me and once again reverted back to the P90. Not sure how this (or the PS90) would do around the house, but it served me well.
Nut bag went postal this morning - police took care of business Now I suppose the obligatory anti-gun idiots will start their crap again Governor scheduled to sign the open carry bill today - hope that doesn't get postponed http://news.yahoo.com/gunshots-fired-near-dallas-police-headquarters-071556687.html It people..., not guns - that is the problem RN
It would have been one hell of a military career. (After four star general you're issued with an AK-47 - still running around on the front line) If you do decide to take it up, I recommend playing late (after 9 pm PST). You'll have an advantage over the kids, who by this time will be experiencing their sugar crashes.
