Apple Russia sales are pretty insignificant for the company. Now when China invades Taiwan, will Apple ban all sales in China? China is a huge market for Apple. So I somehow doubt it.
Apple is famous for using Foxconn to produce their gadgets. Don't you remember that they had to install nets around the building because people were jumping over? They won't care about anyone but their profits, if they have banned Russian's apps is because they see a marketing move there in favour of the American public, their main market.
I used to work for Apple. What I remember, is never ending lawsuits against us for just about every violation in the book. This was on a semi-weekly basis. Including things such as rigging markets against the pubic and taking advantage of monopolies to FIX PRICES in the iBookstores, etc. I could tell you nightmares about our stupid engineering decisions and the never ending shit-shows there... or how Cook used to FORCE people to parades that they did not ethically/morally agree with. And the other shit-canning of people for their views just for differing from his own. On and on it goes. I still remember we'd get busted for working with slave-labor entities in China. Our PR would touch-up the main Apple Page to turn it into something positive and how we are WORKING to improve lives in China. Then (surprise), we'd get busted AGAIN for abusing children workers and other crimes that would be unforgivable in the WEST. I finally quit and moved on. Best joke I remember, was when COOK boasted once how we were going to make one of the Macs mostly made in the USA. Every american-patriot cheered but, no one seemed to realize he was talking about that ONE computer that nobody was buying and made up of less than 1% of Apple sales and was set to be discontinued. LOL! American patriots... there you have it. They'll believe anything you dangle in front of them.
I agree with apple's move. But also, if we keep shutting off Russia from western elements...it might just cause them to develop more of their own. If android didn't exist apple would be able. But it seems an open source android just begs for app development. Soon, some will develop an alternative popular app store. India wants to do this. So does Brazil. I'm sure China must have its own app store by now. I think google wishes that China was still used their android package. Getting political can be dangerous for great international companies.
I am Ukrainian. I have a clue. Russian Federation attacked my country 8 years, ago, Then the war stopped, but they controlled Crimea and parts of two regions (Donbass) and in 2022 the war renewed. They want Ukraine to stop existing. Now we want Russia to stop existing. Their army is large, but weak, their generals are stupid. They could not defeat our army and are losing thousands of troops. So they started bombing civilian buildings to have a leg at negotiations. 2 000 of civilians already died in Ukraine due to that. Russia is using centralized propaganda, and not only in Russia. They are the biggest fake factory in the world. So they are constantly producing fakes about flat earth, covid, bill gates and "nazi ukrainians" wich is completely insane, because we have a lot of jewish people living piecefully (our president is jewish), and even Israel is supporting us. Russian citizens are silent supporters of the regime. Every person who really tried to stand against Putin is dead, or in jail. They, the opposition to terror or russian regime - were few. Most of russians did not supported them, because they are stupid or afraid, they lack courage and moral values. So that is what is happening, while personal of my company, my mom, girlfriend and sisters are hiding from russian bombs in the shelters.
to add to the above post, the narrative from Russian propaganda machine that it is Ukrainians who bombing their own city. I have family and friends there, and Russian aggression is being met with insane Valour from Ukraineans both military and civilians.
