unlike the FED which believes the business cycle can be eliminated private companies like Apple live in the real world. figure out when the next product cycle will work in Apple's favor and when the market will begin to discount this future. if you believe it is a boeing you buy it at any time, ignore up+downs, hold it for 30 years and become very rich if it is the only stock in your portfolio.

  2. The hold for 30+ years strategy just doesn't work anymore. In the 70's, 80's and 90's when there was solid growth it was great. But the last 15 years have shown that you can't just throw money into the market and expect 15% average annualized return.

Investing has gotten a lot more difficult, nowadays you need to be in and out, long and short, and timing is more and more critical.

While I do think AAPL is a good buy long term, blindly buying at any price and holding 30 years is a terrible strategy. Guys that bought AAPL at $700 with that midset may not see a positive return on investment for over a decade.
