Iranians are playing a messy and risky game here. Not just with the Americans- that's a given- but moreso with their own people. We know and the regime knows that they are appealing to the hardliners who will be in a trance-state no matter what and that they are trying to detract from domestic problems, but there is a very large part of the Iranian population that is not satisfied with the handling of the plane shoot-down, or with the past and current handling of the epidemic.
