There is no doubt the guy wanted out in the worst way. The important question is why... and is the why a national security concern?
What McChrystal did had to be intentional, and sure he deserved to get canned, which he had to know was coming. The most rational explanation is that he has had enough of the half-assed efforts on the admin's behalf to win the war, according to his strategy, and said FUCK IT. What is interesting though, is that for all the shit talk about the Bush admin and all of the disrepect that they endured from the media, Congress, and military officer's about the wars, it was always his (Bush's) fault. Yet, 1.5 years in, and you have the commander of ops in Afghanistan talking shit about Obama and Co (who promoted him), and clearly he is making unsubstantiated claims, because Obama is infallible and cannot be wrong, ever... LOL. Less interesting but worth noting is the blatent disrepect of some leftist civilians towards the military. For instance the TC with the article he posted implying that McChrystal is a rascist. Or moveon.org that called General Petraeus "General Betray Us", which is funny, because he is McCrystal's replacement. How do you feel about him now that he has been chosen by your savior? You're an ungrateful bitch TC, and so are others like you.
He could have stepped away for any number of reasons - health, mental health, etc - he didn't need to "accidentally" be quoted acting unprofessionally. After reading the RS article, I think that maybe he felt he and his crew were untouchable. Arrogance was his undoing. It usually is.
