c'mon now, nothing about M4A, clean energy, subsidized college, etc... is all that crazy. The new center is between the progs and the old dems Ocho.

  2. It is not the platforms, it is the fanatic way it is being pushed through when there are bigger issues to nail down to solidify a list of achievements. If you are working on an infrastructure bill and padding it with social programs because the progressive wing is crying and scremaing you are basically shooting yourself in the foot. it is an infrastructure bill.

College is already subsidized with community college and state schools to be honest. No one has a right to a 4 year private college. Clean energy is a separat issue as is dealing with child care.

Porgressive, like the far right trumpets just sp out what they want and ignore the bigger picture. Rather than killing their own party from within and leading to more losses in 2022, they should suck it up for the moderate positions and try to win national approval.

If Dems get voted out of power then the progressives will bith and whine from the minority position and no one will ever pay attention to them again.

  3. There was sort of an "interesting" exchange between Chris Wallace and Buttigieg in his Sunday interview.

Buttigieg starts doing the Joe Biden routine which is to use the infrastructure rap to promote the larger porkulus bill.

So then Wallace asks him if infrastructure is so important- and most of the real infrastructure stuff is in the first bill where there is some agreement- why don't you at least go ahead and pass that rather than risk everything.?

Whereupon Booty generically replies by saying that he has recently just become a parent and he has to think about their futures so the other bill is needed.

    WOMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard some pundit say a while back that "China is building bridges, while Americans are fighting over how to name the old ones."

    Something to think about.

  5. What? We need thousands more, maybe tens of thousands. I'm tired of waiting at RR crossing. It's the 21st century for christ sake and if I can't have my Jetsons flying car then at least we can build a bridge over the train tracks

    Lol @ flying car bit.

Too much environmental damage now with the civilization we've built so far, much less adding more. More concrete is more emissions. Not to mention the loss of habitat for ourselves (farm land), or animals.

that's what was agreed on from the beginning, it's not like they're pulling a bait and switch. Granted, the old guard split the bills to go back on their word and obfuscate the original agreement while painting the progs as unreasonable, so no we're here. The GOP blessed/written infra bill is kinda shit tbh.

You're reading the winds wrong here. If Biden delivers infra only, it'll be a sure way to lose a sizeable bloc in 2024 (2022 will be a disaster). His bipartisan/Obama spiel has achieved fuck all and only thing of worth has been Trump EO recessions. Infra will be the only notch on his belt into 2024 & that's a long way off.

AOC is not helping. Can she get any dumber? She does not seem to understand the basics of how legislation and Congress works. Much less the concept of the separation of branches of government.

Unlike you, AOC is very much aware of executive powers (weed scheduling, student debt, etc...):

    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/21/us/politics/aoc-democrats.html

But doesn’t the White House agree — didn’t it propose a more robust package? The obvious response here is that the administration faces the reality of a 50-50 Senate.

There is an enormous amount of executive action that they’re sitting on that I think is underutilized. On student loans. We’ve got executive action on the table with respect to climate. There are certainly things that we can do with immigration.

So why are we taking this as a legislative compromise, when the opportunity is so much greater, or when Biden could do this stuff with a stroke of a pen, and is just reminding us that he’s choosing not to?

We always try to tell people why they need to settle for less, instead of being able to harness the energy of our grass roots and take political risks in service of them, the same way that we take political risks in service of swing voters. We can do both.
