Pelosi says 'more time is needed' after admitting defeat on infrastructure bill: LIVE UPDATES AOC says Pelosi didn't break promise by not holding infrastructure vote this week Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez insisted early Saturday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had not broken any "promises" by not holding the bipartisan infrastructure vote by the end of September. She tweeted that the "arbitrary" date was related to the $3.5 trillion Build Back Better Act. "That bound $3.5T w/ Sept date. Challenging $3.5 also challenged their date," she wrote. The congresswoman was one of several progressives who had threatened to sink the bipartisan bill if the $3.5 trillion spending measure wasn't included. "That’s ok! Right > rushed," she added. "We can still Build Back Better… together Read more at.. https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/pelosi-defeat-infrastructure-bill
Have contacted Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema's offices to encourage them to stand firm and oppose that $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill. A reconciliation bill of some sort still will pass the way I see it. Reminded both Senators of my proposal and will continue till this gets resolved. Anything that sinks the progressive Democrats spending plans is a huge win for the majority of Americans.
Had Biden worked with House republications he could have whipped more Republican votes to offset progressive lost votes on infrastructure
The dems be having a big bowl of stupid for breakfast these days. WSJ editorial board: President Sanders Uses His Veto Bernie seems to carry a bigger stick on Capitol Hill than Biden. As we recall, President Biden defeated Bernie Sanders in the 2020 Democratic primaries, but lately it’s hard to tell. The Vermont socialist is issuing his own veto over Mr. Biden’s agenda on Capitol Hill until he gets the new entitlements and tax increases he wants. Mr. Biden, who desperately needs a political victory—any victory—had been hoping the House would pass the $1 trillion Senate infrastructure bill on Thursday as Speaker Nancy Pelosi predicted. When was the last time Democrats turned away $1 trillion in spending, especially when it comes gift-wrapped in 19 Senate GOP votes? Our guess is never. https://www.wsj.com/articles/president-bernie-sanders-uses-his-veto-joe-biden-congress-reconciliation-infrastructure-11633127032
Pelosi shifts infrastructure bill deadline to 31 October amid Biden frustration The end of October. It's the new "end of September" I guess. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...re-bill-deadline-31-october-biden-frustration
All Saints' Eve huh....? Halloween here. The Festival of the Dead in many other cultures. Cultures way older than ours. Hmmmm....
I can't believe she choose that day. Honour is paid, also, to the grave. Appease the souls of your fathers and bring small gifts to the tombs erected to them. Ghosts ask but little: they value piety more than a costly gift: no greedy gods are they who in the world below do haunt the banks of Styx. A tile wreathed with votive garlands, a sprinkling of corn, a few grains of salt, bread soaked in wine, and some loose violets, these are offerings enough: set these on a potsherd and leave it in the middle of the road. Not that I forbid larger offerings, but even these suffice to appease the shades: add prayers and the appropriate words at the hearths set up for the purpose. This custom was introduced into thy lands, righteous Latinus, by Aeneas, fit patron of piety. He to his father’s spirit solemn offerings brought; from him the peoples learned the pious rites.
