As much as most people have a disdain for congress, it’s actually important to secure an active and effective government. It makes sense to vaccinate them.

Active and effective government, sounds like an oxymoron

The progressives talk a lot but have no power. Like the religious right, and right wing extremists of the Republican Party pre-2016.

I agree with you, except why are Covid deniers getting a vaccine? Kind of like why trump didn’t take HCQ to treat his Covid diagnosis?

  5. If AOC and a few others got COVID and had to stay home for a week or two to quarantine, I think government would still function unless the GOP wing because a super spreader haha...

I have no problem with people claiming COVID is no big deal not getting a vaccine and if they get sick well it will just go away...

This morning I read a FB comment from a guy who spent the entire pandemic downplaying it, saying HCL was the way, saying just lock up the vulnerable and lest the young free line Jem was with no plan as to how to do it.

Today he comments that why should "elderly people who don't contribute to the economy" get the vaccine when business owners (he never shuts up about his little business) who "should get it first because they contribute"

Trumpers, no conscience, first to don a dress and take seats from the women and children.

Reality if Congress got Covid and had to quarantine for several weeks I doubt anyone would notice.

Personally I think the vaccine is a “part” of the solution for returning to some type of normalcy. But the pretense they put out is the vaccine will stop the spread and that has not been established. It should protect you from getting sick but no one has said you can’t still carry the virus and infect others.

So why all the covid-pass talk?

It seems that the powers that be will use commerce and travel as mechanisms to enforce compliance, even if there’s no science to back their position.

Regardless of how we feel about the vaccine, we may need to get the jab just to conduct business and move about.

Let me ask a question.... why are healthy politicians who are younger and have no underlying symptoms getting the COVID vaccination before medical workers in COVID wards who are exposed to high viral loads every day?

I can tell you exactly what medical workers in COVID wards think about this bullshiat -- because I have heard it directly from them.

  9. There is an argument that politicians and physicians and researchers etc are suffering from embarrassing cases of "do as I say and not as I do-itis." Whereby large portions of the public already do or might fear that - unless the politicians and younger researchers and doctors take it- that is another instance of something being good for the hoi polloi but not good and right for the elite.

Or to put it another way: Overcoming vaccination reluctance is as much a part of the overall goal as is developing and distributing the vaccine. So, to the extent, that some of this in furtherance of that, and maybe supported by the CDC advisory council (if, I am saying, I don't know what their position is) then I don't have heartburn over it. I do not like instances of various younger non-essential people - not part of leadership- seemingly popping up for vaccinations just because they have connections. That is and would be another matter.

Probably some of them should hold off a couple months and let the vaccinations all go to the essential workers. But I say that knowing that if there is a problem getting people to take the vaccine in the springtime, people will jump on politician's bones for not acting faster to set an example rather than hiding in their offices and letting others be the guinea pig. So be it. We can't tidy everything up. Just keep producing vaccine while everyone is bitching and then we will re-evaluate as we go along.
