What is often missing in media reports is that the small number of seats that the dems lost vastly understates the basis for their heartburn, screaming, and nervousness. You have large numbers of dems who were not defeated but won by unexpectedly small margins. Their ship may not have gone down but they took on water. I mean the republicans have this to deal with as well but their problems are being fully discussed. Just sayin, the dems problem goes well beyond the few bodies they lost. They have many more ships that are right at the water line now and unlike the Senate the House is always up for re-election. Each district has its own story of course, but there are quite a few districts that probably held on to being dem because Trump was at the head of the pub ticket and Trump hating moderates and independents went dem or stayed dem. Trump is not going to be on the ticket at midterms. You could argue too that everyone will be feeling the burn with Joe at midterms but it seldom works out that way. Certainly did not even for the Baby Jesus Obama. And Joe is no Obama. In fact he is not even Joe anymore.

"The lesson to be learned from this election cannot and should not be to lean into racist resentment politics, or back away from the social movements that pushed Democrats to power," read the memo, which was obtained by Politico. "If Democrats cower from the national conversation sparked by the Black Lives Matter movement, then the only ones left owning this space will be the GOP," the memo continued. Black Lives Matter sent a letter on Nov. 7 to President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris requesting a meeting "to begin the immediate work of Black liberation." The organization posted an update on Monday asking supporters to sign a petition in support of their request for a meeting. "Black people cannot and will not live through the indifference of a Democrat-controlled government refusing to wrestle with the most egregious and damnable shame of not delivering for Black people — especially when Black people are their most consistent and reliable base," the post asserted. Biden's transition team didn't immediately return an email asking whether they intend to grant Black Lives Matter the meeting. The "Squad," a small group of first-term House Democrats headed by Ocasio-Cortez, added three incoming members who support the "defund the police" movement. That includes Cori Bush of Missouri, who has also called to "defund the Pentagon." Ocasio-Cortez, meanwhile, has urged the party publicly to move further left and embrace its activist base, leading an "embrace the base" campaign on social media. One infographic she posted on social media, titled "The Movement for Black Lives Turned Out Voters," asserts that "1.1 million people registered to vote in the first half of June amid BLM protests across the country." The Movement for Black Lives is a coalition of left-wing activist groups, including Black Lives Matter, whose stated goals include abolishing both prisons and police departments. "We believe that prisons, police and all other institutions that inflict violence on Black people must be abolished and replaced by institutions that value and affirm the flourishing of Black lives," the coalition's website stated.

Jeffries is right. These people are clueless. I was doing some DD on Ford and (i knew this already i guess), but the Ford F-series pickup(s) remain the top selling vehicles in the U.S. What does that have to do with anything? Everything. It means "The Squad" needs to use some common sense, they are living in a Prius world. This is exactly why Trump got 70MM votes. The Dems used to be the party of the working class.

We want to protect Americans’ jobs & healthcare. We do not have some crazy socialist agenda, and we do not believe in defunding the police.” Manchin went on to say in the interview — as he has before — that he had no intention of joining with more progressive Democrats if they made a move to pack the Supreme Court or end the filibuster. “Under no circumstances would I support packing the court or ending the filibuster if there is a 50-50 tie,” Manchin said, adding, “I really think that when you break the filibuster, you break the Senate, and I’m not going to be part of breaking the Senate, I can tell you that. The Senate is a pretty special place because the Founding Fathers intended it to be that way. But they also intended us to work in a bipartisan way and to where the minority always had input. You break the rules of the filibuster, the minority has nothing. There’s no purpose whatsoever. You’re no different than a glorified House.” Manchin was also adamant about continuing to support law enforcement officers, saying that they should instead be funding better education for police officers. “Defund, my butt,” he said. Manchin’s vote could be a prized commodity going into the 2021 legislative session — especially if Democrats are able to in the two runoff elections scheduled to take place in Georgia in January. Incumbent Republican Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue will face Democratic challengers Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, respectively — and if both challengers win, the balance in the Senate will be 50/50. Manchin, despite his differences with many in his own party, has no plans to switch parties any time soon. Referring to himself as “a proud West Virginia Democrat,” he added, “People just have the perception Democrats just want to give away everything. I don’t. I wasn’t raised that way. I’ll help you if you’re down and out. If you can’t take care of yourself, I’ll make sure we take care of you, but by golly, if you can contribute, get off your ass and start working.”
