AOC should really go back to doing something she is qualified for.... like bar-tending.

AOC said she might quit politics, as some centrist Democrats blame progressives for House losses

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told the New York Times in an interview that she might quit politics, depending on the hostility of her own party towards progressive causes.

"I don't even know if I want to be in politics," she told The Times. "You know, for real, in the first six months of my term, I didn't even know if I was going to run for re-election this year."

The Bronx native said the Democratic party has been hostile to progressive causes, like Medicare for All and the Movement for Black Lives.

"Externally, there's been a ton of support," she said, according to The Times. "But internally, it's been extremely hostile to anything that even smells progressive."

The interview happened Saturday, shortly after major news networks called the election for President-elect Joe Biden. While Biden won the presidency, Democrats down-ticket didn't fare quite as well, with some centrist party leaders blaming progressive messaging for the loss of House seats.

Ocasio-Cortez, who handily beat extremely well-funded opponents, pushed back on that accusation, blaming the losses on deficient digital campaigns and the avoidance of progressive issues. In a tweet, she said some campaigns spent $0 on digital ads the week before the election.

She also told The Times that she wants Democrats to stop looking at progressive causes as the enemy, and that if they don't, "they're just setting up their own obsolescence."

On Twitter, she said ignoring progressive activists deters Black, Brown, and youth organizers who help deliver victories for Democrats.

"I chose to run for re-election because I felt like I had to prove that this is real. That this movement was real. That I wasn't a fluke," Ocasio-Cortez told The Times. "That people really want guaranteed health care and that people really want the Democratic Party to fight for them."

  3. Abby Finkenauer Trump+4 in 2016
    Kendra Horn Trump+13 in 2016
Collin Peterson Trump+31 in 2016 (It's a miracle he survived as long as he did as ticket splitting becomes less common.)
    Joe Cunningham Trump+14 in 2016

The only case you have is Debbie Murcasel Powell which was Clinton +16. However, if you look closely and think she lost that district by not being progressive enough you're out of your mind. It's got one of the largest Cuban populations in the country. She lost, because of the effectiveness of tying the Democratic Party to socialism. I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being Trump's most improved district from 2016.

The Democratic party will shortly "cope" with AOC.

She has raised a lot of money, but not a single dime for the Democratic National Party. She spent all the money on Progressive candidates to primary incumbent sitting moderate Democrats.

And she wonders why 90% of the Democratic legislators don't like her whatsoever.

The Progressive Democrats including AOC embraced "Defund the Police".
    Here are the results...

House majority whip says Democrats lost seats in Congress this year because of calls to 'defund the police'

    • Democrats lost seats in the House and Senate this year because of calls to "defund the police," Rep. Jim Clyburn said on Sunday.
    • Clyburn specifically referenced Jaime Harrison, the challenger to Sen. Lindsey Graham who lost the South Carolina Senate race.
    • "Jaime Harrison started to plateau when 'defund the police' showed up with a caption on TV right across his head," Clyburn, a Democrat from South Carolina, said.
    • The call to defund the police has gained steam nationwide after a string of incidents of police brutality against people of color.
House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn said on Sunday that Democrats lost seats in both chambers of Congress because they aligned with "defund the police" efforts.

Speaking to Chuck Todd on NBC's "Meet the Press," Clyburn cited the South Carolina election between Sen. Lindsey Graham and Jaime Harrison, a former state legislator.

Graham won against Harrison with more than half the vote, according to Decision Desk HQ.

"Jaime Harrison started to plateau when 'defund the police' showed up with a caption on TV right across his head," Clyburn said.

"That stuff hurt Jaime. And that's why I spoke out against it a long time ago. I've always said that these headlines can kill a political effort," he continued. "We are all about making headway, and I just hope that going forward, we will think about each one of these congressional districts and let people represent their districts."

Harrison has said he does not support defunding the police. But he did advocate for other initiatives to reform communities and limit police power.

"It's clear we have been investing too much in force and need to reinvest in understanding and serving our communities," he said. "We need a national use-of-force standard. We have to end cash bail. Qualified immunity needs to be a thing of the past, along with chokehold techniques. And we need to invest in community policing."

Clyburn, a Democrat from South Carolina, has repeatedly said he is not a proponent of the Defund the Police movement.

"Nobody is going to defund the police," Clyburn said inJuneon CNN's "State of The Union." "We can restructure the police forces. Restructure, re-imagine policing. That is what we are going to do."

Demonstrators rallied behind calls to "defund the police" earlier this year after several incidents of police brutality toward people of color.

Calls to defund the police gained steam nationwide over the summer with support from top human-rights groups like the ACLU and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, one of the movement's most prominent supporters.

Tell us about all the money AOC raised for the Democratic National Committee to elect Democratic candidates...

Oh, she did not raise a dime for the Democratic National Committee.

She raised all the money to primary existing moderate Democratic office holders (which didn't go well in 2020).

And now she wonders why 90% of the Democratic representatives in Congress can't stand her.

BTW.... the many statements from Democrats in Congressional leadership positions is all the proof rational people need. That is the data underlining the terrible under-performance.

What the fuck does that have to do with the price of tea in China? She wasn't hired to make friends in DC, none of them are. It'd be good if they remembered that.

The Democratic leadership is done putting up with nonsense from AOC and the squad. Biden winning the presidency just further puts a nail in the coffin of her political career in D.C. --- either she gets in line or she will be sidelined to a degree where she will be excluded from everything.
