Im just interested to know if anyone uses pivots or some variation of them to trade these indexes. Does anyone use them to calculate potential support and resistance points for these markets prior to the US markets opening? Do they have any application at all? Thanks in advance, Runningbear
Had a brief look but haven't seen much use for them in European markets. I find previous day's highs and lows are more useful for EuroStoxx....
I don't use pivots but this is a great site for pivot addicts http://www.derivatecheck.de/tools/default.asp?sub=2&pagetype=1
I suggest you look at http://www.eurostoxx50.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl where you will find a number of strategies - including pivots discussed and will get some insight into who is using them
The FDAX follows the pivots (S1, S2, R1, R2) like a religion!. Take a look at this month you'll be amazed. personally I don't trade them (Don't like bottoms and tops), but I try not to go against them. For instance I'll not short if S1 is not tested, unless the price is far from it, in which case I'll make it a target for an exit. Hope this helps. MomoNY.
Thanks for that guys. You're right about the DAX pivots. I followed them last night. What a great site: http://www.derivatecheck.de/tools/d...&pagetype=1 Runningbear
