Anyone tried nootropics or similar for better focus and work endurance?

  1. I probably would not mind trying it, but I would have a hard time obtaining it legally.

Regarding nicotine and addiction - I believe the habit is just as addictive as the nicotine itself? I stopped cold turkey on the nicotine gum a year back. Never really had any problems with it.

I did however have challenges quitting the cigarette back in the day, but when I finally quit I was off nicotine for 10 years and have not smoked since.

Anyway, I don't really feel any special benefits from the nicotine. I originally used it to curb apetite/hunger when dieting and because it CAN help weight loss on its own. I have not noticed any cognitive effects that's worth mentioning. But it can be a nice reward when sitting at the computer for long hours as it IS stimulating in a pleasant way most of the time.

I think most people who've accomplished great things have done great sacrifices and put in the hours. If you don't put in the time, you'll never earn a dime, right?

I'm on my own now, so don't have luxury of a stable income otherwise, so I need to make sure I make the most of what time I have.

I don't need chemical assistance. Would just be interested if there's something that can help alleviate the burden of long work hours. :)

I'm eating healthy and working out on a daily basis, so that definitely helps health wise.

    Pekelo

Lion's Mane and Ginko Biloba, I have tried. I didn't get to be a genius and the vivid dreams were just too much. So other than the dreams, I didn't notice any positive effect.

But everybody is different. With supplements I always say, the test of the pudding is tasting it.

  4. I'd say that's true for most - if not all things.

I've tried for example various diets and elimination of certain foods which should yield allegedly amazing results, but have not noticed any big differences. It's important to stay pragmatic about these kind of things, I think.

On the subject of dieting though, I have found myself to work best on a moderate/low carb diet where I raise the carb intake pre/post workout. High carb and sugars tend to make me feel sluggish. I never feel as bad as after spending some time in the holidays with my family.

  5. While Norway has far more restrictions on supplements than the US, GABA was actually available when I first started working out a good 15-20 years ago now. I don't remember what the marketing angle was then, but I believe it was not sold as a nootropic, but for the purpose of relaxation and/or better sleep.

I remember taking it and it had a very noticeable effect on just that. I could literally feel my body and skin tingle.

    How was Adderall?

I'd add micro dosing LSD to that. I wish I knew where to get this stuff these days.
