Anyone has more than two computers?

  1. If you're shopping for monitors, try to get the biggest bang for the buck. Look for WUXGA 1920x1200 or 2048x1152, these are computer resolutions for text and spreadsheets. They are alittle more expensive than dept store (bestBuy) 1920x1080 (TV std aka 1080P). You'll get more screen space. Shop around, should be able to find under $200. Beyond this resolution will cost over $800/monitor, plus a high end graphics cards for around $400. 2 monitors at 2560x1600 is similar to 10 monitors at 1024x768

And for computers, intel core 2 2.4+ cpu is fine, they're cheap. Quad core is nice but overkill, trading software is not multi threading to take advantage of quad die cpu.

But if you made lots of profitable trades, knock your self out. Spend 10k for your trading workstation, go for the best money can buy. You'll easily find it...

  7. Studies have shown the human brain can only process a maximum of three tasks at a time. Anything more is overkill, a waste of resources.

  8. I realize that this probably came across as a joke.

If one believes in it... it is so unfounded.

Each of those 22"/23" LCD monitor is rated at 40+ watts or so. Let's say it's 50W each.

    Let's say... you have 20 of those monitors. 20 x 50 = 1000 W, or 1KW

That's how much power you consume every hour with 20 monitors turned on.

Let's say, like in California, you are charged $0.20 per KWHr for going above the base line. If you have all 20 monitors on, for 7 hours each trading day, and about 25 trading days in a month...

    1KW x 7 x 25 x $0.20 = $35 per month

$35 per month. It is a lot? It may be less than the commissions you pay for 2 round trips trading stocks. And I am talking about Twenty monitors.

  9. Studies dont mean jack shit. I run (12) 24" monitors thru one computer( 3 PNY quad cards) but use an automated custom program on Ninjatrader to alert me of trading opportunities by scanning charts of ES, FX futures, and other contracts with ease. As the saying goes: "work smarter, not harder"

I also have a backup trading computer(always on) in case main one goes down for some reason. I also have (2) 20.5" HP laptops used for: 1st laptop for RSS reader for Businesswire breaking news, 2nd laptop for skype group connection to other traders I talk to during trading hours.

And one other pc HP desktop for general internet surfing, email, p2p file sharing, etc. ...with (2) 24" monitors.
