Let it be known that President elect Obama has received more worldwide hype than any other leader in all of human history. I would defy anyone to name someone who has received more. In modern times, Presidents Reagan and Clinton have received alot of acclaim, but they did so only after achieving major things for America. Even then, when they were at the height of their popularity, it would be nothing compared to what we are seeing with Obama. A recent CNN poll put his popularity right now at more than 80%. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/01/18/poll.obama.rating/index.html All this for a man who has not even served one full term as senator and not even one single day in presidential office. Could it be that people are bending reality and simply going on hope? (Remember, in trading, hope is a recipe for disaster) Could it be that part of this whole thing is a media-induced delusion? We all heard about how everyone was saying during the tech bubble that we were in a "new economy". These delusions will continue to repeat themselves throughout history. The question is, is this Obama hype one of those times? We shall soon see. Once he gets into office, hype will collide with reality to some degree. He will have to "show us the goods" and he will undergo more scrutiny. I believe the level of this hype is not sustainable. However, the media will continue to not only give him a free pass. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the media will continue with its copius fawning, gushing, adoration, and yes, worship of the man.
HOPE...........NEVER works in trading and will NEVER work in politics!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.infowars.com/?p=7217 http://www.infowars.com/?p=7122 http://www.infowars.com/?p=7219 http://www.infowars.com/?p=7207 HOPE for obama will get you a free nationalist/socialist FINAL ACT to the destruction of america as PLANNED by the Globalist Wealth Entities! ENJOY!!!
It's an interesting feedback loop. A populist candidate from the left will win over the media 100 times out of 100 (post nomination, anyway). The media creates an American Idol-style atmosphere, and the public eats it up. Growing public hysteria drives the media into a frenzy, which whips up the masses in a spiral of mass lunacy. Anybody who traded as the tech bubble grew and collapsed or through the recent fun that continues in the credit markets knows this is the same sort of thing for the same sort of reasons - people who should know better getting carried away with everybody else. Given that we've already had two major bubbles in the last decade, you'd think people would be (finally) wise to it all. But you would overestimate the average person. It's a massive Super(^12)bowl pregame right now, and everybody is cheering. But Monday is right around the corner, and we'll all go to work with a nasty hangover. Will Hangover Monday be as exponentially extreme as the current hype is? I hope not.
OTOH, perhaps there are just a few microscopic cracks in the dam already: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=151113
No, there was not a black candidate, so why did they go out and vote for a white man? Once again, there goes your racist argument...
In the mean time, you can watch obama wink and nod at your Israeli buddies CONTINUING their activities in the middle east........ENJOY!
In spite of all the talk of "change" and a "new era", the reality is that Obama will be governing from the center.
