There's a digression I'd like to hear more about... Once I got over my laziness & downloaded Firefox, I became a fan of opensource. Faster than IE and somehow those unsolvable, random mid-day lock-ups have disappeared. Have trouble seeing a connection but am happy w/ results either way. A techie friend said we'll never get all the drivers we need to successful run Linux w/ all programs since everyone will be creating/updating for MS.....
Of course they did; When Microsoft lunched its products in China; they have to give up their source code. Where did you think all these Chinese pirate copies of Windows came from? Be seriously; Microsoft make a good product for below average users.
This professional reviewer disagrees 30 days with Vista http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/artic...W50aHVzaWFzdA== "Based on my personal experiences with Vista over a 30 day period, I found it to be a dangerously unstable operating system, which has caused me to lose data."
I thought it was a very stable operating system that keeps files very well. Vista has an advanced system retore which is better than XP's outdated system restore. The new system restore keeps people from losing their data and keeps their data safe, even if you accidently delete your important data, Vista has a feature where it can find it for you. Vista is better than XP.
The reviewer is a professional hardware and software reviewer with decades of experience with IT, no offence to you or your experience with Vista but he would have been able to test it in ways beyond your skill level
Nobody has to upgrade to Vista if they don't want to. People can keep their XP system and Microsoft will support it with help questions and upgrade downloads. Microsoft already said that they will support XP for five more years. So if people are happy with XP, then stick with it. We were all forced to upgrade to XP because Microsoft said they are not supporting Windows 98 any longer. So we had no choice. But you can stay with XP if we choose so. Or you can upgrade to Vista. It's up to you. If XP works for you, then stick with it. But if you are buying a brand new computer, then it usually comes pre-installed with Vista. Just get a Vista with at least 2GB of memory or else you won't be happy with it. Vista actualy is a pretty neat operating system once you get use to it.
They were smart to stop putting the year in the name of their OS's. Hence the adage, "Never buy an OS in the same year as it's name!"
