  1. Yeah just use the pit hours. Its like with all markets, even though they have gone mostly electronic, the locals that are either in the pit or used to be in the pit still make up most of the volume and they are still using the pit hours so thats what you should use.

  4. I am only in high school so I usually trade during the very early hours (3-7am) except today because I am still on spring break (I go back tomorrow.....damnit!)

I will tell you however that the majority of the activity imo is between 6-11am in the US treasuries. In eurex (my main market) the majority of the activity is from 1-11am. All of the main numbers that come out during the day come out in the morning so obviously there is going to be more activity and vol.

Not saying that there isn't any opportunities in the afternoon but just saying its not as wild usually.

    Good Trading

The pit closes at 3pm ET, so in general, GLOBEX tends to quiet down from 3 'til closing. Since Europe and Asia are closed, this is the slowest time of day, you are better off trading The Asia session.

Why don't you watch times and sales a few hours a day and learn for yourself? I spent years studying the tape, so don't expect to learn in 3 days.

    Hi Surdo,

I'm from Europe so trading the afternoon session is the only option for me. And Surdo, trust me, I know there are no short cuts with trading (it always costs you money and learned that the hard way :D ). Currently very successful trading Index options in Europe and want to expand my trading to futures. I like the Z's because of the lower volatility compared with ES so I can trade more than 1 contract without increasing my risk and scale in, scale out. if you have any advice regarding the Z's I would love to hear it.

    Thanks,

STUDY the price action on every timeframe, repeat, repeat, repeat, expecially on economic NEWS releases. I would average into bigger trades if you are only trading late afternoon, and swing trade. You will not have much volatility after 3pm et.

    PS: What are "Z"'s?
Bondo, Bonds, 30 YR, ZB, US are more common!

    Hi Surdo,

Do you think it's possible to be profitable trading the ZB (or ZN, ZF) in the afternoon because of the lower Activity & Volume? Also if you compare it with ES.

    Thanks,
    FT79

PS. Sorry for that Z-thingy :D

    Anything is possible!
ZB would not be my vehicle of choice, what hours are you able to trade? Better price action in EC and JY early evening. Talk to YT about trading Bund, Bobl, and Schatz....etc on EUREX.
