No Doubt. I actually use the price consolidation feature for the 30 yr in MD trader to eliminate some of the noise. It'll be interesting to see how the open interest fares. I sure wouldn't want to manage size in that contract.
They're only goal at start up should be liquidity. If they don't do what it takes to get that then they'll fail. I'm sure they are aware of this. They may be behind the butchering of the current market, but that's OK with them. I read a report that they were going to initiate a maker vs taker price structure. Should be interesting.
No problem. It will be more costly to take liquidity than it will be to provide it. So if you have a resting order in the book and the market gets to your price and you get hit, you are a maker. The person(s) that hit you are the taker(s). The fee structure will be different. This is suppose to encourage traders to keep orders in the book in order to create liquidity and depth.
I never thought I would see the day when the Spooz were thicker than the treasuries the Bondo dropped 10 ticks in one two min bar from 26 to 16 then I bought 8's saw it go to 5 then rally up to 29.5 this shit is gnarly! Trying not to get blown out for the day!
I just sent an email to the cme asking them to change the 30y back to full ticks. these two pictures say it all
I've only been trading the bond futures for several months now. I can't believe the severe drop off in volume/liquidity since the tick change. The moves are much more jerky than they used to be. Not sure how I feel trying to trade these going forward, will probably need to adjust my strategy a little and see how it goes. How has the daily total volume been affected?
go to www.mypivots.com and click on daily notes for 30 year tbond..best site for volume updates...also...hey, move to the 10 year...now, just as equal tick value and HUGE volume...what do you think?
