A coffee farm in the mountains of Costa Rica does sound nice. I used to rent a house in coffee country up above Cayey, Puerto Rico while I was testing naval communications satellites for in-orbit delivery from the big earth station there. I'm a runner and cyclist and running up the steep roads around the coffee villas was very pleasant. I never had any problems. There were some roasters running up there and the whole place smelled like roasting coffee. That kind of quiet lifestyle is very attractive to some, even alot of type-A people like me. Plenty of women, quite a few very good restaurants and beautiful scenery. I can imagine Costa Rica is something like that, maybe even safer than Puerto Rico. I need to visit.
Used to live there too.Trinidad and Tres Rios. What a great memories Although it`s hard to legalize there and the local officials are complete bureaucrats, still planning to retire down there.

CR looks like a great place to live indeed. Any chance , the tax law will change regarding foreign earned income ? And does that exempted income include for example rents, dividends, or royalties ? What is the time zone same as Chicago ? I read CR women like to throw themselves at you, however I would like to know about the expat community, are there a lot of american/canadian women ? i.e. can you have a social life like in the US ? Isn't it better to live in a place attracting tourists ? What are those places?
