FWIWI, I have a friend in Italy who trades the MIB future. He says that it's relatively easy compared to the US but I never checked first hand. However it's true that there are only 3 main components that drives it: Finmeccanica, ENI and Capitalia so whenever one moves you have an idication on where the market is going. Again, this are things I heard but never tried. I also heard that in Italy you can't go short. You have to put on a long position up front to sell, that is only synthetic shorts.

There's no such thing as a cheap house in Italy.

But some areas must be cheaper than other areas?

  7. Hello All,
Is there anybody trading profitable in Italy: i.e. paying (or avoiding) taxes?

Prices of housing, speed of internet connections are all easy to come by. But, what's the final take on taxing profiits from intensive futures trading by a private trader?

    Ciao,

  9. A friend of mine played with warrants for a while and payed the flat 12% tax. But he had a day job next to that.
