12.5% tax rate applies only if you don't trade as a business

  4. yes,

99.9% of Italian traders are individual traders (codice fiscale)..so they pay 12.5%

If you trade with an S.R.L - S.A.S. - S.N.C...with a Partita Iva you pay the Irpeg or the Irpef with different tax rate

"Are you kidding..What are you saying?
Individual Tax is 12.5% for Italian traders who trade with a foreign broker...
as well as with an Italian broker (12.5%)

A foreign trader that became resident in Italy will pay 12.5%
If he is no-resident will pay the tax to its country"

No i am not kidding. et user fabrizio who says he is a full time trader from turin confirms this. he says only 12.5% if you choose risparmio gestito.
next week i will get a copy from the german trader (letter from the ministry of finance in rome)
i contacted two tax consultants who also said 12,5% if you trade through a foreign broker.
that´s the reason why i call it a grey area.

are you a full time trader? tell us about your experiences with the italian irs. if you are a full time trader: have you ever been investigated by the italian irs? if yes, have the accepted the 12,5% on your income earned through a foreign broker?
please share your experience in this area
    thanks

  9. Hi ck9,

Good idea to try to get clarity in the Italian trader tax situation. This would be too nice to be true: 12.5%. For private trading, this would put Italy on the same footing as a tax paradise.
The same grey situation seems to apply to Switzerland. Some seem to claim that you don't pay any tax as a private trader. According to Swiss tax lawyers, it says very differently on the books though. Of course you should allow for theory and practice.

In fact, the answer the German received trough his tax lawyer from the Italian authorities seems to be pretty much the same all over Europe: (almost) no tax for private traders, BUT, if you trade too much (not very much in fact) you are CONSIDERED TO BE A BUSINESS, regardless of whether you are in fact or not.

Thank you for shedding some light onto this murky question. I would love to move to Switzerland or Italy for trading. But how can you be sure about what's going to hit you when you're there.

No advertise here!....I am novice about US futures brokers
I would like to know...If somebody here has worked with this firm...no more!
    efutures.com ......not e-futures.com
they write in the web site:
...Providing more than 45 years of combined industry experience and financial strength....
....Responsive, professional, and courteous "one-ring" customer service....
....Efutures is registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, is a member of the National Futures Association, and is a Cargill Investor Services Joint Venture....
If so How it'is possible that nobody here...works or has worked in the past with this broker?"
