I traded my first arbitrage (an arb loss) at 18. Doesn't mean that he should. And buying 10 shares of stock is not the same as trading.
He bought 8 shares @ $38 sold them later and made $2 but regret seeing the stock went to $200. Maybe that was why later he said the holding period should be forever.
