So like programmer starts now, and another starts in a year cause so many quit, how will you be able to claim percentage of ownership? And suppose programmer builds something in his spare time and goes onto making his own company and yet your company at same time is developing same ideas, be in the courts for years, and if you not a great programmer yourself, you won't know about the back door someone builds within. I wish you much luck, I was thinking of what you trying few years ago, but the costs was going to be extreme and never be able to satisfy customers as what they want changes like you breath especially when they paying next to nothing in subscriptions.
If I were to do it all over again, I likely would not build the site as the effort involved just to build what I currently have was substantial. You bring up some valid points regarding ownership that I have not completely worked out. My thought is that if I can find some people who are very interested in the project, we can come up with some sort of arrangement that is agreeable for all parties. The likely outcome is that I will do all the work myself. Just wanted to throw this out there in the off chance someone is looking for a situation I have to offer. fan27
My primary goals for the site are to use it for my own trading and improving my software skills, hence the re-write in Node.js. Regardless of the site's success, these are very achievable goals. I think in order for it to become a commercial success, it would require a lot more effort than redesigning the home page and some marketing. More effort that what I by myself have time for.
I'm interested. I've been a dev for a couple of decades, mostly on the Microsoft stack, but have some exposure to others. Have also traded a good deal in the past and have dev'd on TradeStation and eSignal. Currently I'm between gigs, so I have "some" spare time. Like you, I'd like to upgrade my skills, and be able to point to a public site as a sort of portfolio. There's more to tell and discuss, but probably best offline, so PM me if you're interested. Thanks!
Sounds Fun. I've been part of a team that developed and supported a risk management system over three generations of architecture (main-frame, Open Sys, Dot-Net). No longer working in that field, instead working in Health IT. Recently got back interested after a data analysis OU level II undergraduate unit, and have been leering towards trading systems instead. Not one of those commercial systems has made me want to stay. Your looks different. Happy to pick up the data, testing, SQLs perspectives or light dev etc. That's if I can be of assistance.
Will you please respond to me at boxerboy1111 at gmail. I am not a programmer but I have a project going on myself. I think we should discuss it as there may be a lot of synergy resulting in both projects becoming a success. Thanks, Jay
