I know a guy who based his entire trading philosophy on Dr Elder's books - lost track of him a while back, so no idea how it went. Got to admit tho, the dude has a cool name. 'Dr Elder'... like something out of Lord of the Rings...
Love two of his books - "Trading for a Living" and "Welcome to my Trading Room". Wondered if he has a web site or how to find out a bit more about his seminars (if it's worth the time/cost)? THANKS
He is a nice and a very hard-working guy. His life story is certainly very impressive too. We were planning to do some business together several years ago, but this somehow never materialized.
He sells books, he has a website dedicated to just that, don't recall its URL right now. Do search for Alexander Elder and I am sure you will find it.
I know him, he did a 5 year stretch and San Q, d block. Those illegal short sales will sink you. inmate 451 Actually I believe I heard him speak about a year ago in Chicago, interesting stuff, no earth shattering strategies.
0008: Don't know the man, but I have read some of his work. I get the impression that he is long on discipline and dosen't worry as much about the technology side. Basic common sense approach. As far as trading full time, I am a mechanical engineer who works full time as a consultant to a major university (west coast). Just at the point where I can tranistion into trading full time. I don't daytrade, however I used to and found that I was just too sleep deprived to make good decisionsl. Now I swing trade a couple of times a week, with trades lasting 2-6 days. Easier to stay awake at the wheel now. Hope that helps. Best Regards, Steve46
I think Elder is a very good resource for a newbie. His seminar tapes are very good on both tech analysis and trading discipline. Very interesting speaker.
