I read already about several countries that allow people to go and fight without any legal problems. I think even people from UK were allowed to go.

If he does the unthinkable, he will be remembered as the President that completelly destroyed Russia (if there will still be people). Which is just the opposite of what he is dreaming of.
Ukraine is a real nightmare for Putin, mostly because of his HUGE ego. If he could turn back he surely would.

Seriously? I think Russia sent in its toy division of junior amateur kickboxers so far. If Russia sent in serious warfare then Ukraine would be done within a few hours. This, however, would get it right at the brink of war with the US or parts of Europe. Who are those people here and elsewhere who truly believe that Russia is struggling in the Ukraine? They could send a squadron of bombers and level all the major cities in the Ukraine, and that overnight.

why would you send in your B team to get slaughtered when you can send in your A team to conquer the country within hours?

Does Putin not care about the lives of his soldiers?

I hinted at the reason in my last post. It's all but assured that the US and UK would be drawn into this conflict militarily if Russia carpet bombed Ukraine. And it is clear to every seasoned geopolitical analyst that Russia never intended more than getting the assurance from the Ukraine that it will not ever aim at Nato membership. You don't need to send in the entire brigade to get this across. But the resistance surprised not only the rest of the world but Russia as well. They can go full in risking to draw the west into this in major ways or they can continue to diplomatically dance around. Military operations are always more complex than initially anticipated. I thought Afghanistan, Vietnam and a host of other conflicts made that very clear.

The above are just my opinions from studying the situation.

UK citizens can probably not be prevented from leaving the UK. UK border checks never include why you're leaving, only why you want to come in.

But a Brit enlisting in forces to fight a state that the UK is not at war with commits an offence under the Foreign Enlistment Act 1870. This is still in force, in fact it replaced an earlier Act of 1819. This ain't new.

Oh good Lord... speaking about pouring water on boiling oil...makes one wonder what some of those guys' real motivations are...why in hell would Europe do such thing. When politicians become all emotional then all sorts of things can happen...

They are in a logistical nightmare currently. That's struggling to me. Yes, of course they can just carpet bomb and incinerate everything into ashes but that's part of the unthinkable and the World would have to reply with serious force and that would be the end of that I guess ( for all of us). Besides what's the point of leveling a country?

And that was my point. And I do remember a few logistical nightmares the supreme US forces had in Vietnam or Afghanistan to just name 2. Wars are complicated and often times unanticipated complexities arise. That is the name of the game.
