As a few posters have said, execution is everything if you are doing true HF strats. First (and further meets) should be in person until people get to know each other as this will allow for real sharing of ideas. Look forward to the first meeting.

What a pity! Thoughts from other potential members of our special-interest-group? ------------------------- My preliminary plan of meetups: 1. Share educational resources (papers, articles, softwares, etc.) 2. Discuss papers, articles, programming, etc. 3. Assignments for paper reading panelist and discussion leaders, etc. 4. Assignments for programming and IT jobs, etc. 5. Invitation of vendors to give us presentations, etc. 6. Attend HFT-related events. -------------------------- It will make you feel that you are back to graduate school ... lol... Any thoughts?

Not a dick... But sounds like a failing/struggling trader that has been skeptical about this business because everyone is making money but him. lol This sounds like a great idea.
