Any morning only traders here?

Discussion in 'Trading' started by listedguru, May 16, 2005.

  1. I trade stocks and am pretty much done trading everyday by 11:30 EST unless I am in something that is still going my way. Anyone else only trade the mornings? I find that my edge is much greater in the mornings.

So what the heck does everyone here do with the rest of their day if they only trade morings? Things actually get pretty boring for me sometimes (LOL)....

I spend my afternoons trying to give back what I made in the morning. I'm pretty successful, if I do say so myself.

I would argue that the most NYSE edge will be found during specialist openings and closing imbalances, not much to do during the day unless you're trading M&A

  4. Well I'm a listed trader so I guess I fall into that category. After the morning session is done it's basically a churn fest as far as I'm concerned (for the most part)...

For my daytrades the only period of time I am really interested in is the first 45 to 90minutes of the day.

  7. I trade futures. Only trade the afternoon and after close until open. Guess I am an opposite.

  8. Morning only? I wake up around noon!

  9. I only trade the first fifteen minutes. Then I go work for an accountant.

my 'real job' up untill now has allowed me to trade (index futures) during market hours. Some things at work are getting juggled around, and for the next week or so I'll be working during mornings, and after that I'll be working afternoon/evenings indefinitely.

So I'll be a open/morning trader. Previously, most of my successful trades were in the afternoon, and I'm looking at this as a 'opportunity' to re-evaluate my research and strategy, and find a method that will work with what I have.
