  3. What gives you hope? What are you doing different? What have been your results?

  4. Maybe he means law of large numbers and the asymmetry between payout of wins vs losses. Lottery tickets are losers for the most parts but you part with very little money. But if you constantly buy them and eventually with enough sample size hit the one win, then the payout more than offset prior losses to make you a net winner. Like Taleb... be long vol and long OTM options. You will lose 99% of the time but hit a jackpot in that rare 1%. lol.

But in all seriousness, yeah if you've been working on something for a long time and it isn't working, it might take a paradigm shift to change your outcome. Maybe try a different trading strategy.

  5. This is why I am very eager to get a trading buddy- to test my strategies. Backtesting means nothing unless it's fully automated. Try looking back at results from the other side of the trade-I'm trying that very thing this month-and it ain't pretty!

Struggling can largely be mitigated through brutally honest self-reflection and the personal accountability to correct yourself and NOT repeat mistakes. This is typically effected through the daily use of a trading journal.

Never underestimate a human's ability to screw up and self-sabotage himself and any perfectly good trading system.

    Trading Success = Personal Accountability

  7. Every setback puts me a step forward in the right direction. It has been a long learning curve but one thing that has changed is acknowledgement of "risk".

Results are that I'm not losing big bets like I use to do in the past going for big swings. Hoping to end this year on a positive note/return.

You seem to have a self discipline prob ?
Work on it in every aspect of your life imho
Go for that 3 pm walk to clear your mind etc. No need for cold baths every morning like at the school I was sent to though.
Tackle and defeat 1 problem at a time
    Stick and carrot
Do 1 push-up for every pip lost. Have that icecream in the fridge to reinforce good winning behaviour !!

Gotta put the right fuel into the machine that is you. Mental and physical
