It can solve problems it has seen before and even similar ones to those it has seen before. It cant solve new problems where nothing similar was in the training data. So sometimes it comes over as being very smart, and other times very stupid, especially when it decides to just make things up.
Can you imagine an AI assistant getting out of control and starts ordering all sorts of stuff you don't want or need.... or starts ordering stuff for imaginary friends.
That would suck.. better make sure it's bug free and that one gets to OK every purchase/order by answering Yes/No.
You would need ‘trust’ in your ai bot to know it did a good job buying those things, instead of buying the suboptimal or be driven by adds. But this will go for a human assistent too
