Any guesses on what the "major statement " will be?

  1. Or to put it another way: Didnt we just pull endless ground forces out and concentrate on strategic operations and it just resulted in cutting off the head of the ISIS snake?

Oh I see. CNN told you that the cockroach's ten wives decided to leave him so he just coincidently committed suicide right as the special ops were coming for him. Uh huh. Stay with that party line. Kool aid available in your favorite flavors on CNN.

  2. Should have offered him asylum in the US.

He qualifies, right? His life was in imminent danger in his home country and he would have been killed if he went back. Bingo. Automatic asylum. Need to bring his parents in too so that he is not separated from them. And he has ISIS buddies here already who could have sponsored him.

Pelosi says Trump notified Russians of Baghdadi’s apparent death before telling congressional leaders

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday called on the White House to brief lawmakers on the raid that targeted Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, noting that President Trump informed the Russians of the Islamic State leader’s apparent death before telling congressional leadership.

The statement from Pelosi (D-Calif.) came after Trump told reporters at a lengthy news conference that he did not inform the House speaker of the raid because he “wanted to make sure this kept secret.”

U.S. presidents typically follow the protocol of contacting congressional leaders, regardless of their political party, when a high-level military operation is conducted.

“The House must be briefed on this raid, which the Russians but not top congressional leadership were notified of in advance, and on the administration’s overall strategy in the region,” Pelosi said. “Our military and allies deserve strong, smart and strategic leadership from Washington.”

U.S. military forces have carried out another operation in northwest Syria, targeting senior ISIS leader and spokesman Abul-Hasan Al-Muhajir, regional officials and witnesses say. It comes less than a day after the killing of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

It happened on Sunday night when U.S. forces, in cooperation with Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), were said to have carried out a joint operation near Syria’s border town of Jarablus in Aleppo province. A spokesperson for the U.S. military did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“Continuing the previous operation, terrorist Abu al-Hassan al-Muhajir, the right-hand man of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and an ISIS spokesman, was targeted in the village of Ain al-Baydah, near Jarablus, in direct coordination between SDF intelligence and the U.S. military,” SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which is based in Britain and uses a network of local sources to track events in Syria, said a fuel tanker and a Hyundai vehicle were traveling in the area when they were targeted by U.S. forces. They said at least five people were killed, but it’s unclear if al-Muhajir was among them.

The news comes less than a day after ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the self-proclaimed caliph and one of the world’s most-wanted terrorists, was killed in a raid conducted by U.S. special forces near Barisha, a village in Idlib province.

“We believe ISIS [spokesman] Al-Muhajir was in Jarablus to facilitate Baghdadi’s entry to [the] Euphrates Shield area,” SDF spokesman Mustafa Bali. “The two US-led operations have effectively disabled top ISIS leadership who were hiding [northwest] Syria. More still remain hiding in the same area.”

Al-Muhajer, whose real name and nationality is unknown, became the Islamic State’s official spokesman in December 2016. The previous spokesman, Abu Mohammad al-Adnani, who also served as the group’s chief of external operations, was killed in a U.S. airstrike in Syria in August 2016.
