But Irc doesn't have voice. Not sure how they educate without voice. The trader wouldn't be able to pay attention to the market if he has to read the chat room all the time.
Ahhh...now your starting to define your room needs a little more. Yep...IRC itself in the free rooms do not have audio although I've heard of special audio scripts that allows for such but don't know any rooms that have installed such scripts. ------------------ On a side note, you said to me... You later said to zxcv1fu the following... Therefore, based upon more clarification you gave zxcv1fu... I think you'll be better served to look for free chat rooms full of traders using Japanese Candlestick methodology instead of looking for a room similar like to Woodies especially since the candlestick analysis I've seen mention a few times there is either inacurrate or lacking. Yet, lots of traders similar to Woodies membership shouldn't be one of your criteria. ------------------ Now back to the bat channel. First of all, your going to be reading the text in a free chat room because you've made it clear your looking for a room that's free with profitable traders posting their trades. Therefore, you obviously have an interest in reading the trades they're posting or why bother with this thread in the first place. With that said, getting back to audio, lets pretend you do find a free room with some profitable traders that's willing to share their method with you after you develop an online friendship (reason why I emphasize in an early post to you to participate in the conversations and do not lurk). If your truly looking for education via audio... Do it properly. Use something free like Skype or any other free program that has good audio after meeting someone in the free chat room that's proven to you they are a profitable trader and your interested in learning about their method. Even better, if your truly interested in someone trade method that has proven to you they are a profitable trader... Go visit them in person (if they allow it) and learn the method properly. The air fare and hotel costs will probably equal 1-2 losing months of trading. My point, don't use chat rooms as a surrogate mother to actually learning how to trade a method properly... Mentoring. There are just too many lazy butt traders in chat rooms trying to do such and still remaining part of that overwhelming large group of traders that will NEVER be able to trade for a living nor make some good second income. Real trading education is done in person from a real trading account. However, if your just looking for some trading tips and an occasional useful insight about the markets... Chat rooms can be very useful for such. Simply, know exactly (define it to yourself) what your looking for as in education to prevent being disappointed in what you find in chat rooms. Now, if your looking for just a trade signal caller (head trader) and want audio... Find a signal calling where all the members are silenced in the room and only the head trader talks during market hours and then everyone can talk when the market Closes or allowed to talk prior to the Open. A few years ago there was a few rooms like the above on PalTalk. Another way to look at it, don't try to use these FREE chat rooms as a short cut to becoming a profitable trader unless its in combo with in person education with that trader or some sort'uv in-depth instructional text (something that requires a download or a website). Good luck. P.S. Don't make the mistake of thinking the quality of the chat room is represented by the quantity of members. The best free rooms are small in membership numbers because they don't promote themselves and they are less noisy because of such. Example, five traders all trading the same trading instrument via the same or similar like trade methodology with a few of them profitable traders... That should be good enough for any trader looking for more eyes on the market sort'uv speak. Mark
<i>"But Irc doesn't have voice. Not sure how they educate without voice. The trader wouldn't be able to pay attention to the market if he has to read the chat room all the time."</i> Assume fifty traders are members in the room. It is 100% audio from the moderator's side, with live streaming charts. Can you be there, focused and paying 100% attention from bell to bell so as not to miss anything? No text = no review. That requires no phone calls, no lunch, no potty breaks... nothing but complete attention to what is being heard via audio on your side of the screen. * Now, can you expect the other 49 members to do the same? Or is it probable they will come & go thru the room every day? If so, you can be sure many of the same questions will be asked over and over and over again. You can be sure the moderator will have to repeat same points of relevance numerous times. Trades will have to be profiled numerous times, for all the absentee moments where members are, well, absent for the audio. Do you think that process might be distracting to the moderator? If the moderator cannot focus on charts = markets due to managing member's repeated questions, can the moderator deliver clear, concise, valued info to begin with? ** I don't know much about most things in life... but live room operation is one that I do. Member's derive most value from a room thru passive observation, i.e. watching & learning. Being able to review text and/or posted chart snapshots is invaluable. Being able to interact with other members is invaluable. Trying to fixate on trade-along attempts to "earn while you learn" will never work. Ever. The valued learning comes when money is not at risk, no emotions of fear - loss are involved to cloud judgement. Aspiring traders who seek live rooms for education are best served to spend their initial time in purely passive mode... no live trading. Once the individual trader has mastered their method - approach, they are able to trade anywhere at any time... with live rooms running in the background or not. *** Lastly, why is it assumed that any successful trader is/would operate a live room for free, over any long period of time? A fleeting notion that live room operation is anything but time and energy intensive will evaporate in the first week anyone runs their own room. From that point on, it is purely laborious work. Perhaps that is why Woodie does no longer runs his room from bell to bell, now or ever again. Likewise, no other operation exists because there is no motivation for successful traders to do so. What's the motive? Altruistic charity for people trying to learn how to make money? I'd respectfully suggest there are countless other social groups thru the world in much more need of charity time & effort than aspiring traders. No such room as Woodies with one moderator exists, and probably never will for the reasons stated above. Hope this helps save time for an endless search where no target exists.
I used IRC (text only) several years ago. Now I am using Paltalk & Hotcomm. Paltalk (text & voice) has lots of free rooms but some'd become pay room if the demand is there. Just because they r pay room does not mean they r good chat rooms. Or members would have posted here or I would heard about the room. Usually u can see how many in the room without entering the room to gauge how popular the room is. if the attendance goes down it is not a good sign. if the attendance goes up does not mean it is a good room either. time will tell! Hotcomm (text, voice & charts) has the best format & cost money. It has very little free rooms. I have not found good pay room either. My subscription will not be renewed. I can not see the attendance without enter the room.
True. I like irc and have been playing around with Microsoft Agent. http://www.mirc.co.uk/agents.html I can listen to the give and take without mIRC taking up the screen. If there is something interesting I will check the text by bringing up mIRC to read. I hide the animated character. Better voices are available on the web as well if you do not like the free MS agent voice. Something else to look at. I like it better than paltalk anyway. Good trading.
