With all the consolidation going on, I wonder if this could happen, considering that IB appears to be one of the more popular brokers for active traders. If so, could this be good or bad for existing clients? Should I be worried?
Almost any broker could get acquired... why spend your time worrying about it? If it does happen and you don't like it, you'll have plenty of time to change brokers.
I think its unlikely that Thomas Peterffy, the founder and majority shareholder of IB, would sell out.
I think he still has fire in the belly and if he takes care of himself, he's still got a few more decades in him. I think the chances are extremely small.
