I am running a Pentium based Dell right now, with intermittent problems. I just upgraded on advice from the Tech guys to a Intel Core Duo 3.0 with dual nvda cards and 2G of memory. I should be getting it by the end of this week. I will let you guys know if this helps. PS....i needed a new computer anyway so now was a good time
Nasty level II lag for me again today... This is costing me fills, etc and I'm not happy. When are they going to fix this? -Guru
Guru, Wonder why this is happenning to some and not others. Today anvil ran okay at my end. But some of the days, I had the same problem as you. I'll keep you updated to see if problem exist today.
rookiemd, Thats a good question. I've heard that Arca has been having major problems but not sure if that would cause slowness elsewhere? I'm pretty sure my nyse quotes/prints are running slow too. Whatever it is it needs to be fixed asap... -Guru
Today I was told I should take out the arca quotes from my level II as arca is having all kinds of problems as of late. I did this but didn't notice any difference (still slow for me)... But it might work for others? How is everyone else's anvil running today? -Guru
After posting, I started to have all kinds of issues. Froze couple of times, had to log on and off like twice, quote filter graying out.
Wait. you mean to tell me the quote filter is not always gray? My high-low scroller filter has been grayed out 99% of time since I started using Anvil. I don't know why I even have it on screen anymore. But surprisingly Anvil ran without a hitch for me today. Hmmm...maybe a calm before a huge network storm?
I had a few problems with Anvil at the open this AM. Especially with quotes on CPO. To be honest I am not sure if Anvil was slow or someone was reporting 10 seconds late. It was almost impossible to tell. I have run into the same problem a few times recently under heavy volume conditions. I have found if you CAN close out are re log onto the server the problems usually correct, especially the F--king stuck quote issue.
this is the last time I am posting, as there isn't really a reason for me to have posted to start with. My problems were largely do to the use of an incorrect port at the office, resulting in my above average slowness that would not typically be seen on anyone's cpu in the office. I never had issue with the regular problems that could be expected during an FOMC or similar data spikes due to an active market. (as you can see from my posts on the FOMC day, anvil wasn't that bad all things considered) Its all been a misunderstanding predicated upon a problem on my end. While this does not excuse the current issues at hand, it does explain why my problems were exacerbated to a degree that drove me to mindless/irrational frustration. Anvil ran smoothly today, and I have every reason to believe the problems I ranted about were unique and any performance issues going forward, or experenced by others, are unlikely to match the problems I had brought upon myself by having made an error on my end. Somtimes theres a lot of little things that can go on. I'm no techie, but even the smallest problem on your end can snowball into a big one. Before misunderstanding the situation as I did, try and double check things on your end so you don't bring problems upon yourself as I did.
Well said. Good Luck to Everyone. I just got my new "refurbished" Dell Vostro 400 today with a 3.00 GHz Intel Dual-Core processor with 4MB L2 cache and 1333 FSB, 2 Gigs of DDR2 PC-6400 800MHz. RAM and an Nvidia 256mb GeForce 8600m GT graphics card with dual-dvi output on Windows XP. Can't wait!
