wow...didn't realize but you totally misinterpreted this. I'm not saying that I'm a 1/4 second faster then you because I'm trading from the hub. I'm saying its absurd that you keep defending anvil despite these freezes that affect everyone equally (and that everyone I know and the people posting here are complaining about). unless of course your trading style ( i already know you're not a piker/scalper, because these issues would drive you insane ), isn't as affected. I don't know why you are taking this so personally; its a piece of software...its not like i'm talking about you. Very funny. You ought to go on the Comedy Channel with your BS. It's not like Anvil is the ONLY platform having problems with ARCA these days . . . try taking a deep breathe and ask around a bit. And yet you ( and your absurd EGO ) think that you have such a HUGE advantage trading from an Assent office/hub over us guys that trade via remote. Guess those "techs" at the office never told you that your speed over that 45 megabyte dedicated line back to Hoboken travels at only 80ms. I'm "remote" with Comcast and I'm at 88ms. Shocker. Understood. I apologize for getting personal. I had freezes and disconnects a little over 2 weeks ago that were particularly bad over the course of 3 days. Have had nothing since then. I know for a fact that the guys back in Jersey have been having problems getting bad data from ARCA and that ARCA has been having some sort of a hardware problem. This isn't just with Assent, it is an issue that ARCA is having with everyone. I am also aware that it has been extremely difficult to get ahold of the new Intel Xeon Quad-Core X5460 microprocessors that run via the Bearlake chipset at .45 nanometers - - - the "Harpertown's" that run at 3.20 GHz with an incredible 1600 MHz front side bus and an L2 cache of 12MB. They go for $1600 each and Assent has been tracking some of these "puppies" down all over the country in order to replace servers that were only 2 months old in the first place. The "Harpertown's" are backordered at Dell, and I think there were a few at HP. I heard Assent sent a personal courier down to Florida just to buy 7 of them! http://www.intel.com/products/processor/xeon5000/specifications.htm?iid=products_xeon5000+tab_specs I'm not some Assent "tool" that is trying to spin this any better than it is . . . I've been around for awhile and can't ever remember this much data coming through the pipeline at such speed. Even the NYSE has had problems staying ahead of the hardware "curve" with orders being "cancelled" 10 minutes before the close because they never made it out of the "que" and to the Specialist Posts. This happened over the Summer and I was oh-so-painfully aware of it as the market was "melting-down" into the close on a late-Summer Friday last year. I remember being so pissed that the NYSE ( and SIAC ) took over an hour to contact all the brokers ( like Assent ) via e-mail ( of all things ) that I used a contact at the NYSE to get a hold of whoever was the head of IT. I could only leave the guy a voice-mail. About 2-3 weeks later I'm having coffee at a Peet's and wind-up getting a call from the guy . . . Suffice to say that it was a very interesting conversation to say the least and I was in over my head for about half of it. Good Luck to everyone. This too will pass.
heard about them tracking down those servers, i guess its true i thought today was the best day for data in a long time.... fwiw lets hope it gets better
FYI those speedtests useless. The tracert to the ip you connect to and the ms per hop is whats important.
I trade from the Chicago office. We had no BATS for the first part of the day. We currently have no ARCA. Yesterday at the close I was crossing .50 through just to get fills. During any kind of volume spike the displayed inside market in Level II becomes completely worthless. The guys in New Jersey will frequently flush whatever ECN without notice. I hope the guys in NJ figure this shit out soon. When everything is working, Anvil is absolutely awesome. Right now it blows.
My Nasdaq prints and level 2 seemed off this morning. Stuff was printing late and the level II was really slow to react. NYSE seemed better but nas blows... -Guru
had stuck bats, arca issues. freezes in FSLR. (thin stocks have been the worst freezes...get frequent freezes scalping MA/FSLR but not citi or rimm????? market isn't even moving today) whatever. all I know is that the folks in the thread "Genesis in its death throes" report no problems http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=114020&perpage=6&pagenumber=8 those guys went from bitching to thanking genesis for fixing the problems we are still having with anvil. another day, another anvil issue. Whens it gonna end? (i'm sure it will, but you've got to admit this is annoying.)
If it's not one thing, then it's another. Today, I had no connectivity issue. However, quotes got stuck twice while rest of mkt was busting out. I was sitting there thinking "WTF happened? Did the stock get halted??" Gawd....gimme a freakin break!!
I am having the same kind of problems as some of you guys. I called assent and they told me it might be my processor. I am currently running dual 2 core 2.14 ghz and they told me to update to at least 3.0. Gonna try that out to see if the problem still exist.
