La Raza Radio among businesses burned down in Minneapolis BLM riots: 'It was my life's work. Destroyed.'

Among the many businesses destroyed in the Minneapolis Black Lives Matter riots was a minority-owned Spanish-language radio station named "La Raza 95.7FM."

The station's CEO, Maya Santamaria, explained to the Star Tribune that the destruction from the rioting was a devastating setback for her business.

"It was my life's work. Destroyed," she lamented.

The station was destroyed in May when protesters angry about the death of George Floyd turned to rioting and looting. It was in a building that was targeted by arsonists because of its proximity to a Minneapolis police station, and it went up in flames.

''We were a block from Third Precinct that got burned down," Santamaria said. "It was all very intense. Something that started as protest against the police over treatment of African Americans became violence against Latino and other businesses, including Black businesses. The Latino community really felt it in terms of the damage and looting."

Santamaria said that her efforts to keep the station going were hampered when she found out that it was insured for less than what it was worth.

"Our business loss was $150,000 and we recouped about $85,000," she told the Tribune.

She is now looking to relocate away from the area because of the inhospitable business climate after the riots and the coronavirus pandemic.

"There is a flight from Lake Street," she said. "It's still like a war zone. It's depressing. Spirits are low. Not just Latinos. It's a struggle. It's going to take a lot of spiritual work, planning and investment."

Santamaria opened a GoFundMe campaign page in order to raise funds to keep La Raza Radio going, but after 5 months, it only raised $3.9k of its $250k goal.

"The voice of the Latino Community in Minneapolis was silenced when it was most needed!" she wrote at the page.

Records reveal Joseph Rosenbaum, who was shot in the head and killed by Kyle Rittenhouse in Kenosha last week, molested five boys.

The Kenosha Reporter previously reported on Rosenbaum's criminal record.

Newly revealed records contain graphic descriptions of sexual abuse for which Rosenbaum was convicted.

“Per documents from the Superior Court of Arizona in Pima County, the crimes for which Kyle Rittenhouse's 1st attacker, Joseph Don Rosenbaum, was imprisoned and made to register as a sex offender involved the molestation and rape of five separate boys between the ages of 9 and 11,” Trevor Sutcliffe tweeted.

Rosenbaum can be seen chasing Rittenhouse on footage taken just prior to the shooting and throwing a molotov cocktail at him.

Those on the left were quick to condemn Rittenhouse, who is facing murder charges for the deaths of Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and the non-fatal shooting of Gaige Grosskreutz.

    All three had criminal records.

Robert Barnes, a civil rights attorney, said he believes Rittenhouse’s actions were consistent with “consistent within his rights of self defense.”

DOJ identifies NYC, other cities as jurisdictions permitting 'anarchy, violence and destruction'
DOJ was responding to Trump request for review of federal funding to such cities
    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/doj-nyc-other-cities-an-anarchist-jurisdiction

The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday identified New York City, Portland and Seattle as "local governments that are permitting anarchy, violence, and destruction in American cities," a move that comes as the federal government continues to take a tough stance against localized rioting in some areas of the country.

President Trump earlier this month targeted those three cities in a memo to Attorney General William Barr and the Office of Management and Budget asking for a review of federal funding to "anarchist" jurisdictions. The DOJ memo Monday essentially serves as notice that New York City, Portland and Seattle meet the criteria Trump set out for potential defunding.

It's unclear whether and how much funding may eventually be withdrawn from the cities and if such a move would be legal, as it would likely be challenged in the courts.

"When state and local leaders impede their own law enforcement officers and agencies from doing their jobs, it endangers innocent citizens who deserve to be protected, including those who are trying to peacefully assemble and protest," Barr said in a statement. “We cannot allow federal tax dollars to be wasted when the safety of the citizenry hangs in the balance. It is my hope that the cities identified by the Department of Justice today will reverse course and become serious about performing the basic function of government and start protecting their own citizens."

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler has repeatedly called on the violence in his city to end all the way back to May, but to little effect. He's also limited the tactics Portland police officers can take to control violent crowds, including banning the use of tear gas. The DOJ noted that Portland has now surpassed 100 consecutive nights of unrest.

New York City has had some of the same politically motivated unrest as D.C. and Portland, but the attorney general's memo largely cites shootings and other crime, while the New York Police Department's budget has been cut, as the reason for its inclusion on the list.

Barr's memo cited whether "a jurisdiction forbids the police force from intervening to restore order amid widespread or sustained violence or destruction," whether " jurisdiction has withdrawn law enforcement protection from a geographical area or structure," whether police departments are being defunded and refusal of federal law enforcement help as the evaluating criteria for the list.

If 90% of those who claim to be "press" are throwing rocks -- do you think the police will not take action to defend themselves from the 10% who are not (but may start at any minute when they put down the camera).

The problem is that all the violent fake "press" has undermined the real press -- this causes confusion regarding who are attackers and who are real media. The best approach for police is to arrest them all when a riot is declared and they refuse to leave. Let the courts sort it out.

It should be noted that this use of violent rioters in "press" gear from ANTIFA is a deliberate tactic to cause trouble and negative media coverage of the police.... as actual reporters are swept up in arrests of the "press".
