In its sixth presidential ranking since 1982, 157 scholars surveyed by the institute ranked Trump the third worst president of all time after Andrew Johnson (who was impeached) and James Buchanan (whose presidency was followed by the Civil War). https://www.ibtimes.com/trump-worst-president-us-history-political-scientists-claim-2765338 Trump Is Worst President In US History, Political Scientists Claim By Arthur Villasanta 02/18/19 AT 8:20 PM Donald Trump is rated the worst president in American history by a group of 170 political science scholars. Being ranked 44th and last among U.S. presidents classified Trump as a failure, according to the survey’s parameters. On the other hand, this group selected Abraham Lincoln as the best among all presidents in the history of the American Republic since 1776. Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama, took eighth place, and was also the highest ranked among the five living presidents. Obama was in 18th place during the last survey four years ago. Among the three other living presidents, Bill Clinton ranked 13th, Jimmy Carter, 26th and George W. Bush, 30th. The ranking of presidents by order of greatness was determined by members of the Presidents & Executive Politics section of the American Political Science Association. These scholars completed an online survey between December 2017 and January 2018. https://www.axios.com/experts-rank-...065-dd7781fd-2070-484a-9553-f9cc676635e6.html Experts rank Trump as worst president, Obama 8th best A panel of 170 presidential politics experts considers Trump the worst president in history, according to rankings published by the New York Times. Obama is 8th, with Lincoln, Washington and Franklin Roosevelt holding the top three spots. The same experts ranked Buchanan last and Obama 18th in 2014.
The above means absolutely nothing without the disclosure of the methodology used to create these rankings. What were the circumstances surrounding the formation of this “panel”. Are these just the personal opinions of some reporters and college professors who got together and wanted to say in one voice: Orange man bad? Whether it is polls, statistics, or group proclamations, the methodology used is critical for context and credibility. In addition, when this ranking first came out on Trump, he was only President for a year, if that. Now it is only year two. Comparing a partial Presidental term to a full term or terms is not meaningful even if there is no bias in this group. This suggests if these Presidential politics “intellectuals” were ranked by a notable third party using a reasonable and disclosed methodology, they as a group would likely fair poorly when compared to past groups. There were past groups that ranked the Presidents, right? If so, and there was an established Presidential ranking methodology, has it ever changed from past ones? Are there any subjective components to it? Overall, Obama was a terrible President. The best you could rationally say about Obama was that he was a suppository for America after what Bush did to us. Obama got his start through political corruption with being the apparent beneficiary of Chicago influence peddeling and the Rezco scheme. These criminals did not pave the way for Obama out of altruism. Obama, through his questionable executive orders, his creation of an oppressive bureaucracy, and his alienation of almost half of the American people made him one of the worst Presidents ever. Trump turned out to be the answer for enough Americans for the questions left by Obama. Questions such a tepid economic post recovery growth by historical standards. Questions such as media bias against police officers. It seemed racism and sexism was indirectly promoted by the media against White men. The media almost had certain people saying “I apologize for being a privileged White man”. “Please forgive me, but I was born that way”. Hell, some politicians bit, such as a White woman who self identifies as an Indian without requiste ancestry. Or the White woman politician who wears an afro and self identifies as Black. Or a White man politician who self identifies as hispanic. The media even promoted the idea one can self identify their gender and be granted access to any bathroom they want. Are showers and locker rooms next? I never heard Obama reign in this sort of outrageous conduct. Indeed, Obama sometimes piled on. Other than the Bush Presidencies and some historical Presidents, Obama clearly belongs near the bottom of unbiased Presidental rankings. This panel smells of the similar situation with the “fact checking” organizations. The press lost its credibility with the American people through their biased reporting and false narratives, so they created an “authority” to appeal to in hopes of regaining some credibility. Looks like Democratic political hacks are looking for an authority to give them credibility for attacking Trump with limited justification.
Trump has a 39% average overall approval rating, the worst since polling began.Even Bush,Carters and Fords is higher. He lost the popular vote more than any president in history.
Trump also has had the most negative press coverage than any other President in history. Trump never even had the customary 90 day media “honeymoon” period. The media layed into him from the start using the questionable methods they are now so infamous for. Polls in the United States are used both to manipulate public opinion and as a politician’s tool to guage what the political cost of implementing unpopular legislation that is contrary to public interests. Even so, Congessional approval ratings have been typically below 20% for decades. Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer’s popularity are near or below Trump’s as well. The most egregious example of using polls to manipulate public opinion and to justify an action against the public interest was the second war against Iraq. For months public opinion was against the idea of going into war against Iraq. Finally, after months of media justification for the war, public opinion finally swayed enough for Bush to feel “politically comfortable” to begin the war. It must be nice to be able to choose the time, place, and the popularity of your wars. As a side note, should we call these designer wars? Polling leading up to the war was nearly constant as well. It is like certain “Elites” don’t want the public to have an opinion unless they gave it to them.
Trump has also been more negative to the press than any other president in history.A relationship with the press is part of the job of President and Trump sucks at it just like ever other aspect of the job.
Not accepting his pathological lying and reporting credible accusations of his scumbaggery, sexual misconduct, fraud ,unethical business practices, criminal activity, racism etc is not laying into him using questionable methods, its doing their job.
