answer this if you make money

  1. darkhorse,

This is one of the best posts I've read yet on ET. I concur with you wholeheartedly. Although trading has always come naturally to me (I am probably one of the very few that went into trading with just the right set of mental conditions), I always believe that there is a way to become better at any profession.

One of the things I have learned is that ego really is one's downfall. That, and the fact that you never know anything -- you are always stupid.

The trick of the game is to find a way to be a little less stupid than the masses, but when markets are dynamic and fluid, we're all stupid. Nobody is smart.

  3. LOL

Aphie i have to say, you remind me of me back in the early days(before I got crushed like a grape). I too firmly believed that I would be 'wise' enough to learn from other's mistakes, and thus not make any huge ones myself along the way. Oops.

Enjoy the initial bliss while it lasts- 'cause it won't....

  5. darkhorse,

I hate to burst your bubble darkhorse but I was exposed to trading since I was 5 from my grandfather, who was a very good investor at the time.

I've made mistakes, don't get me wrong -- but I don't make big ones. I made one big one when I first started, but that is a distant memory now (one I will always remember though).

There is nothing wrong with accepting the fact that some people are just great traders naturally. I support anyone who wishes to try it out. There is a lot of bs about trading and a lot of misinformation that I thankfully learned from a tender young age.

    darkhorse,

Thanks for your spectacular response to "Gordon Gekko", just what I needed to hear at this stage of my journey. I realize one of the reasons you post is to improve your clarity and I hope that is being accomplished along the way. But if you ever have any doubts about the value to others (especially during some of the squabbling and nonsense that is a part of ET) I can fullheartedly say DON'T. As in, don't doubt it for one minute. You make a tremendous contribution and I thank you.
