Let's see what Rep. Paul Gosar has to say about the shooter in Texas. According to Gosar the shooter was a “transsexual leftist illegal alien". Yeah... let's see how that turns out.

I'm all for it. I've said before that I believe the age should be 23 or even higher. As for no background check - where did he get the gun? I only ask because any gun I purchase is run through a background check.

I understand you are emotional. I also understand why, and I get it. But simply installing laws without understanding whether or not they accomplish what you want them to isn't the way.

Emotion doesn't lead to logical decisions.

The NRA Is Banning Guns for Trump's Appearance at Its Upcoming Convention
The organization that lobbies for laws that make it easy for anyone to carry a gun does not want anyone carrying a gun to their own event, oddly.

You can have your gun at other events during the three-day convention; but if you attend the forum with Trump, NRA’s Executive Vice President, NRA-ILA’s Executive Director, and “our nation’s top Second Amendment supporters,” per NRA’s event announcement, then you will be prohibited from exercising your God-given, Second Amendment right to bear arms.

This is just a stupid as the argument the other side makes pointing out politicians who want to ban guns use private security that has guns.

    You're not very bright.

Seems like a very smart thing for the NRA to do. It would be a historical collapse if a shooter showed up and then shot the ex-president at a NRA Convention. It would be very bad publicity and that's an understatement.

Yet, because he's an ex-president...I'm sure the NRA members that will be directly interacting with him...they will have to get a background check although I believe they should also have any mental illness history reviewed prior to being allowed near the ex-president. :D

  8. Trump Signs Bill Revoking Obama-Era Gun Checks for People With Mental Illnesses
The new law nullifies an Obama-backed rule that added people with mental illnesses to the national background check database.

President Donald Trump quietly signed a bill into law Tuesday rolling back an Obama-era regulation that made it harder for people with mental illnesses to purchase a gun.

The rule, which was finalized in December, added people receiving Social Security checks for mental illnesses and people deemed unfit to handle their own financial affairs to the national background check database.

Had the rule fully taken effect, the Obama administration predicted it would have added about 75,000 names to that database.

President Barack Obama recommended the now-nullified regulation in a 2013 memo following the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, which left 20 first graders and six others dead. The measure sought to block some people with severe mental health problems from buying guns.

The original rule was hotly contested by gun rights advocates who said it infringed on Americans’ Second Amendment rights. Gun control advocates, however, praised the rule for curbing the availability of firearms to those who may not use them with the right intentions.

So if the mentally ill cause shootings, and you disagree with allowing them to buy a gun, shouldn't we be addressing the issue of the mentally ill?
