Another school shooting

  1. But the immediate hero worship tells us they "ran towards the fire". That's there job. IF they botched this holding back to try and gain some tactical advantage, considering what was at stake, some heads need to roll. Somebody needed to bust through those windows with others following. Yes, probably a death sentence. That's a hero. Everything else is just doing the job you signed up for.

Right. So would you concede - even slightly - that what has worked elsewhere might have to be adjusted, or might not work, on the US because of the sheer amount of guns in circulation?

By the way, you get bonus points every time you use the phrase "round and round we go".

No, I think we understand that the amount of guns that is a serious contributing factor. But you don't have a solution to that with your "annual check".

Additionally, the only thing you're focused on is the amount of guns. And that can't be the only consideration.

20 of the last 30 deadliest mass shootings since 1950 have been in the social media
and graphic video game era. Call me crazy, i think there is a connection.

Population pressure (population + density), i.e. crowding and interference, are surely part of the problem. Seventy years of growth and more importantly, urbanization. Rising inequality is probably making it worse. Relative resource "scarcening". Altogether, life is getting harder for a huge part of the population and that's taking an emotional and mental health toll. Mix in, as you say, social media, even the whole internet, and you get the siloing effect, too.

I think most conservatives wouldnt mind something like that, the fear is you give an
inch the other side will try to take a mile eventually, first its special permit for certain long guns, then hand guns, then shot guns, then sling shots...

hence the proverbial digging of heals..

Precisely. The extreme left makes the extreme right and vice versa. The middle folks who will compromise are crowded out and nothing gets done.

    Same as it ever was.
