  1. It is awfully disturbing to see this pic, that's all I can say.

  2. But to be fair mental illness exists everywhere but we have way more mass shootings. So it is worth taking a hard look of how easy it is to buy guns in various states without any checks or licenses or procedures which are not a barrier to 2nd Amendment rights. I have numerous friends who coneal carry because I live in a conceal carry state. I would not even worry for one second about their ability to carry a gun based on who they are (ok half of them are military), BUT they still went through all the checks and hoops to legally carry their weapon and they fully support what they had to do.

But as we have said ad nauseum, it aint gonna happen in this country because the issue is a media and political darling. Just last night I flipped between CNN and FOX continuously to see how this shooting was covered and no surprise in the differences.

  3. The US has more guns per capita than any other country. The US has looser gun laws than any other First World country. The US has more mass shootings than any other country. The gap between the rich and poor in the US has been ever widening. Meanwhile, the US probably has the worst social safety net among First World countries:

    Put that in your milkshake.

  4. That there is some sad statistics of how the US is doing poverty wise, not to mention everything else. Maybe this country is way off worse than I have imagined. :(

Right. Consider “critical mass” in physics when trying to understand why the amount of guns is an important factor in the gun violence problem here in America. Critical mass holds that once a level of fissile material is reached a nuclear chain reaction. Same is true with guns. Once a level of guns is reached gun violence will continue to grow.

  7. I'll agree with that, but without addressing all the other issues very quickly, like the next day quickly, the problems will continue. They'll just get more creative with how they kill people.

Chicago's crime is almost always in the news and the media often discusses it.

By the way, considering many see the issue is the availability of an AR-15 or assault rifles in the United States in comparison to other countries...

In Chicago, the city banned assault weapons. Shootings by assault weapons is dramatically down in Chicago. Unfortunately, now multiple shootings mainly occur via handguns that are typically gang-related.

Yet, gun dealers in Indiana and Kentucky have been aggressively trying to get their assault weapons into Chicago...some have been using military soldiers on active duty for hire to transport assault weapons from Indiana/Kentucky into Chicago.

My point, the dealers will find a way to sell their assault weapons regardless of the bans. Therefore, there need to be tougher laws (prison) against the dealers too that are finding ways to navigate around bans. :(

Mental illness may exist everywhere, but how is it dealt with? It is just left alone to fester?

So what is your solution? I keep asking you. Thus far you've only said "give kids guns so they can protect themselves" which I have to assume is tongue-in-cheek.
