Americans will believe anything. They have been brainwashed for tens of years. Look at their movies, e.g. Batman or Spiderman: a whole city / country cannot defeat a cartoonish Penguin-man or cannot defend itself against Green-Goblin.

Look at James Bond and the cartoonish portrayal of evil. Evil is always cartoonish in movies for the masses :D

Would a normal non-brainwashed person believe that a crazy scientist can pose any thread to the world? Only in movies.

Would a normal person believe that a cartoonish guy riding a camel with towel on his head can be of any thread to the world? ONLY IN BRAIN-WASHED USA :p

But that's exactly what terrorism does. Because one guy can kill hundreds to thousands it has a multiplier effect in fear. I think americans do overreact in the wrong ways.

The ineffectiveness of bin laden after 9-11 is because of our reaction, not because suddenly they got dumber. Saudi Arabia feared him so much in 1991 that they dared not imprison him, his following was violent. The rumor is they actually paid him not to attack the kingdom, or at least allowed financing to go on unfettered.

This new guy fits the mold. He was educated, well off economically, and not directly harmed by Americans in any way. In short he was filled with hate in a way only Islam can manage it seems. His own father was alarmed.

  7. Where is the evidence you have for 1 billion Muslims on the streets. I'm a practicing Muslim & it didn't register even a blip with me.

You Can Insult Muhammad PBUH all day long , draw his pictures, defecate on them, wipe your ass with God knows what... & do all kind of provocative retarded stuff.. ..& you won't get a ounce of my attention....

I too can point the camera to two nutjobs at a town hall meeting and brand them "Conservative"
& generalize on 1 Billion based on the sayings of two crazies...

You actually "legitimize" these assholes by elevating them to credible representatives of the Islamic faith just because they say so.

  10. While "1 billion Muslims on the streets" may be an exaggeration... pretending that the reaction to the cartoons in the muslim world did not register a blip is ignoring the reality:

A consumer boycott was organised in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait (led by MP Waleed AlـTabtabaie[49]), and other Middle East countries.[50] For weeks, numerous demonstrations and other protests against the cartoons took place worldwide. Rumours spread via SMS and word-of-mouth.[51] On 4 February 2006, the Danish and Norwegian embassies in Syria were set ablaze, although with no injuries. In Beirut, the Danish Embassy was set on fire,[52] leaving one protester dead.[53] The Danish embassy in Tehran was also torched.[54] Altogether, at least 139 people were killed in protests, most due to police firing on the crowds,[1] mainly in Nigeria, Libya, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Several death threats and reward offers for killing those responsible for the cartoons were made,[55] resulting in the cartoonists going into hiding.[56] Four ministers have resigned amidst the controversy, among them Roberto Calderoli and Laila Freivalds.[57] In India, Haji Yaqoob Qureishi, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh state government, announced in February 2006 a cash reward of Rs 51 crore (roughly about US$11 million) for anyone who beheads "the Danish cartoonist" who caricatured Mohammad.[58][59][60] Subsequently, a case was filed against Haji Yaqoob Qureishi in the Lucknow district court in Uttar Pradesh and demands were made for his dismissal by eminent Muslim scholars in New Delhi.[61] Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of State of the United States accused Iran and Syria of organizing many of the recent protests in Iran, Syria and Lebanon.[62]

The Western media dubbed the series of demonstrations organized in February 2006 by certain Middle Eastern governments and radical clerics as the "Cartoon Intifada".[63]

On 9 September 2006, the BBC News reported that the Muslim boycott of Danish goods had reduced Denmark's total exports by 15.5% between February and June. This was attributed to a decline in Middle East exports by approximately 50%. "The cost to Danish businesses was around 134 million euros ($170m), when compared with the same period last year, the statistics showed."[64]
